Govt authorizes SBI to issue and encash Electoral Bonds 

The Union Government has authorised the State Bank of India for issue and encash Electoral Bonds through its 29 Authorised Branches upto 10th October 2022.

Electoral Bonds to be valid for fifteen calendar days 

According to the Ministry of Finance, the Electoral Bonds shall be valid for fifteen calendar days from the date of issue and no payment shall be made to any payee Political Party if the Electoral Bond is deposited after expiry of the validity period. The Electoral Bond deposited by an eligible Political Party in its account shall be credited on the same day.

PM Modi to launch 5G services on 1st October 2022 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 5G services on 1st October 2022 in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. 5G technology will provide seamless coverage, high data rate, low latency, and highly reliable communications. It will increase energy efficiency, spectrum efficiency and network efficiency.

PM Modi to inaugurate sixth edition of India Mobile Congress-2022 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also inaugurate the sixth edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC). The IMC 2022 is scheduled to be held from 1st to 4th October with the theme of “New digital Universe”. New Vande Bharat Express between Gandhinagar and Mumbai 

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off Gandhinagar- Mumbai Vande Bharat Express at Gandhinagar station and travelled on the train from there to Kalupur Railway Station.

Vande Bharat 2.0: Key Highlights 

Vande Bharat 2.0 will be equipped with more advancements and improved features such as reaching the speed of 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in just 52 seconds, and a maximum speed up to 180 kilometres per hour. The improved Vande Bharat Express will weigh 392 tons when compared to the previous version of 430 tons. 

It will also have a Wi-Fi content on-demand facility. Every coach is equipped with 32” screens providing passenger information and infotainment compared to 24” in the previous version. Vande Bharat Express is also going to be environment friendly as the ACs will be 15 per cent more energy efficient.


RBI hikes Repo Rate by another 50 basis points to 5.9%

RBI hikes Repo Rate by another 50 basis points to 5.9%: The repo rate, the rate at which RBI lends money to commercial banks, has been hiked by 50 basis points again. Considering the prevailing adverse global environment, resilience in domestic economic activity, uncomfortably high inflation level, the RBI has hiked the policy repo rate by 50 basis points, to 5.40%.

Consequently, the standing deposit facility (SDF) rate stands adjusted to 5.65% and the marginal standing facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate to 6.15%. The Monetary Policy Committee has decided to remain focused on withdrawal of accommodation to ensure that inflation remains within the target going forward, while supporting growth, stated RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.


Indian Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar visit to Australia from 26 Sep – 28 Sep 

Admiral R Hari Kumar, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Indian Navy visited Australia from 26 Sep – 28 Sep 22. This was his first official visit to Australia upon assuming the office of the CNS.

During these meetings, the leaders expressed their commitment to pursue collaborative activities in several areas of bilateral convergence.


South Korean Naval Ship ROKS Hansando and ROKS Daecheong visit Chennai 

Two South Korean naval ships, ROKS Hansando and ROKS Daecheong arrived in Chennai on a three-day visit on 28 September 2022.

Background

During the visit, professional interactions and friendly sports activities are scheduled between the personnel of the Indian Navy and ROK Navy. The goodwill visit strengthens the ties between the navies of the two nations. The task group led by Rear Admiral Kang Dong-goo is docked at Chennai port for a goodwill visit.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 218.52 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.73%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 218.52 Cr (2,18,52,16,710) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.10 Cr (4,10,15,565) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 39,583. Active cases now constitute 0.09% of the country's total Positive Cases. 3,947 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.73%. 5,096 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,40,19,095.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 1.44% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 1.23%.
