Retail inflation hikes to 7.41 per cent in September 2022
As per the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation data released, the Retail inflation, based on the consumer price index (CPI), rose to 7.41 per cent in September this year compared to 7 per cent in preceding month.
Inflation climbed mainly due to modest rise in prices of Food & Beverages, Clothing & footwear and Fuel & light segments.
INS Tarkash reaches South Africa to participate Exercise IBSAMAR VII
INS Tarkash reached Port Gqeberha (also known as Port Elizabeth), South Africa to participate in the seventh edition of IBSAMAR, a joint multinational maritime exercise among Indian, Brazilian and South African Navies from 10 - 12 October 2022.
Key Highlights
The previous edition of IBSAMAR (IBSAMAR VI) was conducted off Simons Town, South Africa from 01 to 13 October 18.
The Indian Navy is represented by the Teg class guided missile frigate, INS Tarkash, a Chetak helicopter and the personnel from the Marine Commando Force (MARCOS).
Cabinet approves 22,000 crore as one time grant of OMCs for losses in Domestic LPG
The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas to give a one time grant amounting to Rs.22,000 crore to three Public Sector Undertaking Oil Marketing Companies (PSU OMCs). The grant will be distributed among Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL).
The approval will help the PSU OMCs to continue their commitment to the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan, ensuring unhindered domestic LPG supplies and also supporting the procurement of Make in India products.
Domestic LPG Cylinders are supplied at regulated prices to consumers by the public sector Oil Marketing companies namely, IOCL, BPCL, HPCL.
Cabinet approves new Scheme “Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE)
The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved a new Scheme, Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE) for the remaining four years of the 15th Finance Commission from 2022-23 to 2025-26. The new Scheme, PM-DevINE, is a Central Sector Scheme with 100% Central funding and will be implemented by Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).
The PM-DevINE Scheme will have an outlay of Rs.6,600 crore for the four year period from 2022-23 to 2025-26 (remaining years of 15th Finance Commission period).
The objectives of PM-DevINE are to
- Fund infrastructure convergently, in the spirit of PM Gati Shakti.
- Support social development projects based on felt needs of the NER.
- Enable livelihood activities for youth and women.
- Fill the development gaps in various sectors.
India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 219.15 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.76%
India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 219.15 Cr (2,19,15,39,281) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.
COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.11 Cr (4,11,04,996) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.
India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 26,509. Active cases now constitute 0.06% of the country's total Positive Cases. 2,786 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.76%. 2,557 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,40,65,963.
The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 1.05% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 1.08%.
