5th Assembly of International Solar Alliance to be held in New Delhi from 17 to 20 Oct 2022

National Lok Adalat to be held on 12th November 2022 across the country   

National Lok Adalat will be held on 12th November 2022 across the country to dispose of pending cases through settlement. The benefits of the Lok Adalat system and mutual settlement between parties a large number of consumer cases are expected to be disposed of.

Key Highlights 

Groundwork for this exercise has already been initiated and all the consumer commissions have been instructed to identify cases that have an element of settlement and prepare a list of pending cases that can be referred to Lok Adalat.

To have maximum outreach and benefit consumers, the Department is reaching out to consumers, companies, and organizations through SMS and emails. Department has the phone numbers and emails of 3 lakh parties whose cases are pending before the commissions.

National Lok Adalats are held at regular intervals where on a single day Lok Adalats are held throughout the country, in all the court's right from the Supreme Court to the District level wherein cases are disposed of in huge numbers.

There are about 6, 07,996 consumer cases pending in the country. In NCDRC there are about 22250 numbers of cases pending. The major states like Uttar Pradesh with 28318 cases pending, Maharashtra with 18093 pending cases, Delhi with 15450 pending cases, Madhya Pradesh with 10319, and Karnataka with 9615 pending cases are some of the states with the highest number of pendency.

RBI launches DAKSH - Reserve Bank’s Advanced Supervisory Monitoring System 

The Reserve Bank of India has been taking various initiatives in strengthening supervision, which among other initiatives include adoption of latest data and analytical tools as well as leveraging technology for implementing more efficient and automated work processes.

Shaktikanta Das, Governor, today launched a new SupTech initiative named “दक्ष (DAKSH) - Reserve Bank’s Advanced Supervisory Monitoring System”, which is expected to make the Supervisory processes more robust.

About ‘दक्ष (DAKSH)’ - Reserve Bank’s Advanced Supervisory Monitoring System

‘दक्ष (DAKSH)’ means ‘efficient’ & ‘competent’, reflecting the underlying capabilities of the application. ‘दक्ष (DAKSH)’ is a web-based end-to-end workflow application through which RBI shall monitor compliance requirements in a more focused manner with the objective of further improving the compliance culture in Supervised Entities (SEs) like Banks, NBFCs, etc. 

The application will also enable seamless communication, inspection planning and execution, cyber incident reporting and analysis, provision of various MIS reports etc., through a Platform which enables anytime-anywhere secure access.


NTPC and GE Gas Power Sign MoU for demonstrating Hydrogen co-firing in Gas Turbines 

NTPC Ltd., the country’s largest power generating utility, and GE Gas Power signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for feasibility to demonstrate of hydrogen (H2) co-firing blended with natural gas in GE’s 9E gas turbines installed at NTPC’s Kawas combined-cycle gas power plant in Gujarat.

Under this significant collaboration, the two companies will jointly explore the pathways to reduce CO2 emissions from the Kawas gas power plant and further implementation at scale across NTPC’s installed units in India.


Delhi govt launches one-long intensive anti-dust campaign 

Delhi government has launched a month-long intensive anti-dust campaign. Under this campaign, the construction sites will have to compulsorily follow all the 14 anti-dust norms and strict action will be taken against violators.

On violation of anti-dust norms at construction sites, fines ranging from 10 thousand to 5 lakh rupees will be imposed by the government as per National Green Tribunal guidelines.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 218.88 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.75%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 218.88 Cr (2,18,88,17,589) as per provisional reports till 7 am today (7th October 2022).  

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.10 Cr (4,10,55,105) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 30,362. Active cases now constitute 0.07% of the country's total Positive Cases. 1,997 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.75%. 3,908 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,40,47,344.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 1.34% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 0.94%.
