Vivek Joshi, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, appointed to RBI Central Board   

The Central Government has appointed Vivek Joshi, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India as a Director on the Central Board of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) vice Sanjay Malhotra. The appointment of Vivek Joshi is effective from November 15, 2022 and until further orders.


Spanish film director Carlos Saura to be honoured with Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award in 53rd IFFI 

The Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement award will be given to Spanish film Director Carlos Saura at the 53rd edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), announced Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan.

IFFI 53 - the annual film festival will be hosted in Goa from November 20 to 28, 2022.

At the 53rd edition of International Film Festival of India 280 films from 79 countries will be screened this year. 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films from India will be showcased in the ‘Indian Panorama’ while 183 films will be a part of international programming.

Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement award at 53rd IFFI 

Spanish filmmaker Carlos Saura, who received the Golden Bear for Best Director at the Berlin International Film Festival for Deprisa Deprisa, along with two Silver Bears for La caza and Peppermint Frappe, a BAFTA for Carmen and three awards at Cannes, among several others, will be honoured with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award and an eight-film retrospective at IFFI.....Read More


India's WPI Index inflation in October eases to 8.39% 

India's annual wholesale price-based inflation (WPI) eased in October to 8.39% year-on-year, the lowest since March 2021, helped by a fall in commodity prices, government data showed on 14th November 2022.

The October wholesale price-based inflation (WPI) inflation was lower than the Reuters forecast of 8.70% and 10.70% recorded in the previous month.


26th edition of MALABAR 22 Culminates in the seas off Japan 

The 26th edition of the multinational maritime exercise MALABAR 22 culminated in the seas off Japan on 15 November 2022. This edition also marked the 30th anniversary of the exercise and was hosted by the JMSDF.

The Indian Navy was represented by Eastern Fleet ships Shivalik and Kamorta led by Rear Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet. Malabar series of exercises began in 1992 as a bilateral exercise between the navies of India and US and gained further prominence with joining of the navies of Australia and Japan.

The sea phase of MALABAR 22 was conducted over a period of five days near Yokosuka and witnessed live weapon firings, surface, anti-air and anti-submarine warfare drills and tactical procedures. Another highlight of the sea phase was the conduct of War at Sea exercise which enabled all four navies to consolidate interoperability and hone their tactical skills.

IFSCA inks MoU with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) 

The International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration in the field of regulation and supervision of regulated entities in their respective jurisdictions. The MoU facilitates technical cooperation and exchange of information.

The IFSCA, being a unified regulator responsible for development and regulation of financial products, financial services and financial institutions in the International Financial Services Centre(s) (IFSC) established in India, is, inter-alia, entrusted with the responsibility of regulation and supervision of authorized banks and non-banking financial institutions operating in such IFSCs.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI)

The RBI is the central bank and monetary authority of India carrying on, inter-alia, the regulation and supervision of banks and non-banking financial institutions as well as undertaking other functions and exercising powers in accordance with various statutes.


Paddler Sharath Kamal becomes first Indian player elected to ITTF 

Star Indian table tennis player Achanta Sharath Kamal has become the first player from India to get elected in the Athletes’ Commission of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).

Eight athletes including four male and four female, were elected from Asia, Africa, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania and will serve in the Athletes’ Commission for four years from 2022 to 2026.


Indian shooters win four Gold medals at Asian Airgun Championship 2022

Indian shooters have won four gold medals in all the four team events at the Asian Airgun Championships 2022 in Daegu, South Korea

India has so far won 10 gold medals in this competition. The trio of Arjun Babuta, Kiran Ankush Jadhav, and Rudrank Balasaheb Patil started the day with a gold medal, beating Kazakhstan 17-11 in the final of the men's 10-metre air rifle event.
