Govt extends term of Vinay Mohan Kwatra as Foreign Secretary

Government has extended the term of Vinay Mohan Kwatra as Foreign Secretary. Kwatra will now continue in the post till 30 April 2024. Vinay Mohan Kwatra (57) is a 1988-batch Indian Foreign Services (IFS) officer.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved extension in service to Vinay Mohan Kwatra, (IFS:1988), as Foreign Secretary beyond the date of his superannuation i.e. 31.12.2022 up to 30.04.2024 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.....Read More


India - Malaysia joint military Exercise Harimau Shakti 2022 

India - Malaysia joint military Exercise 'Harimau Shakti 2022' commenced at Pulai, Kluang, Malaysia on 28th November and will culminate on 12th December 2022.

Exercise HARIMAU SHAKTI is an annual training event between the Indian and Malaysian Army which has been conducted since 2012.

Exercise 'Harimau Shakti 2022': Participate by 

Combat-experienced troops of the GARHWAL RIFLES Regiment of Indian Army and the Royal Malay Regiment of the Malaysian Army are participating in the exercise this year to share experiences gained during operations in order to enhance interoperability in planning & execution of various operations in jungle terrain.

India - Malaysia Military Exercise HARIMAU SHAKTI 22: Aims  

Exercise HARIMAU SHAKTI will enhance the level of defence co-operation between Indian Army and the Malaysian Army, which in turn will further foster the bilateral relations between the two nations.


4th India-France Annual Defence Dialogue held in New Delhi 

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh held the 4th India-France Annual Defence Dialogue with Minister of Armed Forces of the French Republic Mr Sebastien Lecornu in New Delhi. A wide range of bilateral, regional, defence and defence industrial cooperation issues were discussed in the dialogue.

Key Highlights 

During the dialogue, one of the key areas of discussion was defence industrial cooperation with a focus on ‘Make in India’. Future collaborations and potential co-production opportunities were discussed. The Ministers agreed that the technical groups from both the countries should meet early next year and take the key cooperation issues forward.

The Ministers recognised their convergences on a number of strategic & defence issues and shared the commitment to work together on enhancing cooperation in bilateral, regional and multilateral fora, with a focus on the Indo-Pacific region. France is the current chair of Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) and Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS).


Rear Admiral AN Pramod assumes charge as FOMA 

Rear Admiral Sandeep Mehta, VSM, handed over the baton of Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area to Rear Admiral AN Pramod at an elegant ceremonial parade held at INS Kunjali Parade ground. 

About Rear Admiral Sandeep Mehta 

Commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 July 1990, Rear Admiral Pramod is a qualified Naval Air Operations Officer and a Communication and Electronic Warfare Specialist. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Naval Academy, Goa, the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and the Naval War College, Goa. 

He also commanded IN ships Abhay, Shardul and Satpura, and the Naval Air Station, INS Utkrosh. He was the Fleet Operations Officer, Western Fleet, and tenanted the appointments of Deputy Commandant, INA and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Air).


R.K Singh inaugurates 10 Mobile Health Clinics 'Doctor Apke Dwar' in Bihar 

R.K. Singh, Union Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy inaugurated REC’s (formerly Rural Electrification Corporation Limited) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for procurement, operation and maintenance of ten Mobile Health Clinics (MHC) at Sadar Hospital, Aarah, Bhojpur District Bihar.

The total cost of the project is Rs. 12.68 crore which will facilitate operational expenditure for three years for smooth functioning of the project.

The 10 MHCs, out of which three are exclusively for women, will provide door-step primary health care service to the underprivileged population across all 14 blocks of Bhojpur district in Bihar. Each MHC shall be equipped with additional basic equipment and shall have a four-person team including a doctor, a nurse, a pharmacist and a driver cum support staff. Free generic medicines shall also be dispensed to the patients. Each MHC will organize over 20 camps per month and see 50-70 patients every day. 


Envoys of five nations present credentials to President Droupadi Murmu 

The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu accepted credentials from the High Commissioners/Ambassadors of Bangladesh, Maldives, United Arab Emirates, Latvia and Japan at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. 

Those who presented their credentials were: 

  1. Md. Mustafizur Rahman, High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh
  2. Ibrahim Shaheeb, High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives
  3. Dr Abdulnasser Jamal Hussain Mohammed Alshaali, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates

President Droupadi Murmu to visit Haryana from 29 to 30 Nov 2022

The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, will visit Haryana from November 29 to 30, 2022.

Key Highlights

On November 29, 2022, the President Smt Droupadi Murmu will grace the International Gita Seminar in Kurukshetra. On the occasion, she will also virtually launch the Mukhyamantri Swasthya Sarvekshan Yojana; and Haryana e-ticketing projects for all public road transport facilities as well as lay the foundation stone for a Medical College in Sirsa. On the same day, the President will grace and address the 18th convocation of NIT Kurukshetra. In the evening, at Haryana Raj Bhavan, Chandigarh, she will attend a civic reception to be hosted in her honour by the Government of Haryana.

On November 30, 2022, the President Smt Droupadi Murmu will interact with ASHA workers, women wrestlers, Olympians, other sports persons as well as girl students, before returning to Delhi.
