Udaipur to host first G-20 Sherpa meeting in India   

Lake city Udaipur of Rajasthan will host the first G-20 Sherpa meeting in India from 4th to 7th December 2022. The four-day meeting will be presided over by the Indian Sherpa & former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant.

Govt authorizes SBI to issue and encash Electoral Bonds from 5 to 12 Dec 

Govt authorizes SBI to issue and encash Electoral Bonds: The Union Government has authorised the State Bank of India for issue and encash Electoral Bonds through its 29 Authorised Branches upto 12th December 2022.

Electoral Bonds to be valid for fifteen calendar days 

According to the Ministry of Finance, the Electoral Bonds shall be valid for fifteen calendar days from the date of issue and no payment shall be made to any payee Political Party if the Electoral Bond is deposited after expiry of the validity period. The Electoral Bond deposited by an eligible Political Party in its account shall be credited on the same day.

Govt authorizes SBI to issue and cash Electoral Bonds 

State Bank of India (SBI), in the XXII Phase of sale, has been authorised to issue and encash Electoral Bonds through its 29 Authorized Branches (as per list enclosed) w.e.f. 05.12.2022 to 12.12.2022.

A person being an individual can buy Electoral Bonds, either singly or jointly with other individuals.

What are Electoral Bonds? 

An electoral bond is a bond on which its value is written like that of a currency note. It can be used to make donations to political parties on behalf of individuals, institutions and organizations.

Electoral bonds can be bought in multiples of Rs 1000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 1 lakh.


Ministry of Culture organizes International conference on the contributions of J C Bose: A Satyagrahi Scientist 

On the occasion of 164th birth anniversary of legendary Indian scientist Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose and as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava, Vijnana Bharati and Ministry of Culture, Government of India organized an “International conference on the contributions of J C Bose: A Satyagrahi Scientist”, at Inter-University Accelerator Centre, New Delhi.

The conference was organized in association with Indraprastha Vigyan Bharati and Inter-University Accelerator Centre, New Delhi.

Aims 

The aim of the conference was to provide a voice to the unheard contributions of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose in the walks of the pre-independence era as a scientist and a freedom fighter. J C Bose discovered wireless communication and was named the Father of Radio Science by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Theme 

The conference had unique sub-themes like J C Bose as a Satyagrahi Scientist, Contemporary relevance of works of J C Bose, J C Bose vision for self-reliant India, 5mm 5G: J C Bose contributions, and Bose as a Science Communicator. There were four competitions like essay, poster, article writing and oral presentations for school, college students and teachers. In the evening, there was a mellifluous cultural performance in front of the audience. 


President Droupadi Murmu confers National awards for Empowerment of Persons With Disabilities for 2021-22 

The President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu, presented the National Awards for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities for the year 2021 and 2022 in New Delhi on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Background

The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment gives away the National Awards for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities every year to Individuals, Institutions, Organizations, State/District etc for their outstanding achievements and work done towards empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. 


President Droupadi Murmu to visit Andhra Pradesh from 4 to 5 Dec 2022 

The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, will visit Andhra Pradesh from December 4 to 5, 2022.

Key Highlights 

On December 4, 2022, the President Smt Droupadi Murmu will attend a civic reception to be hosted in her honour by the Government of Andhra Pradesh at Vijayawada. On the same evening, she will witness the operational demonstration by the Indian Navy at Visakhapatnam on the occasion of Navy Day and virtually inaugurate/lay the foundation stone for projects of Ministries of Defence; Road Transport and Highways; and Tribal Affairs.

On December 5, 2022, the President Smt Droupadi Murmu will visit Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, Tirupati where she will interact with students, faculty members, women achievers etc. 


Shooter Rudrankksh Patil bags ISSF President’s Cup 2022 in Cairo Egypt

Indian shooter Rudrankksh Patil has bagged the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) President’s Cup 2022 held in Cairo, Egypt. Rudrankksh Patil defeated Italy’s Danilo Sollazzo in the 10-metre rifle play-off by 16-8.

Rudraksh Patil also secured India's first quota for the 2024 Paris Olympics when he won gold in the men's 10m air rifle at the ISSF Rifle-Pistol World Championships 2022 held in Cairo in October this year.
