2-days G20 Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) meeting begins in Pune 

The first G20 Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) meeting under G20 India Presidency will take place in Pune, Maharashtra on16th -17th January 2023. The meeting will be joined by the IWG member countries, guest countries and international organizations invited by India to discuss the 2023 Infrastructure Agenda under the Indian G20 Presidency.

The Indian G20 Presidency’s theme of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ sets the tone for the 2023 Infrastructure Agenda under the 2023 Indian G20 Presidency.

First G20 Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) meeting 2023: Key Highlights 

The Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India will host the two-day IWG meetings, along with Australia and Brazil as the co-chairs. The first IWG meeting in Pune would be attended by 65 delegates across the G20 membership, invitee countries and International Organizations.

In the Pune meeting, discussions will focus on the agenda for the Infrastructure Working Group under the Indian Presidency. The flagship priority to be discussed in this meeting is “Financing Cities of Tomorrow: Inclusive, Resilient and Sustainable”.

Two Indian Coast Guard ships reach Bangladesh on 6-day visit 

Two Indian Coast Guard Ships reached Chattogram for a six-day visit as part of ongoing close cooperation between the Coast Guards of Bangladesh and India. The ships were given a warm welcome by the Bangladesh Coast Guard.

The two ships ICGS Sharuya and ICGS Rajveer, are state-of-the-art indigenously built Indian Coast Guard ships. The visit of these ships is an important part of the Defence Partnership between India and Bangladesh and the wide-ranging cooperation between the Coast Guards of the two countries.

India has announced the donation of 12,500 doses of pentavalent vaccines to Cuba. Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi announced this during her official visit to Cuba from 12th to 14th of January. This was her first visit to Cuba.

Yeti Airlines flight crashes in Pokhara, Nepal 

A Yeti Airlines aircraft flying from Kathmandu to Pokhara with 68 people on board, crashed in Pokhara of Kaski district.

The plane took off from Tribhuvan International Airport. The ATR 72 aircraft of Yeti Airlines had four crew, two pilots and two air hostesses aboard. The aircraft crashed between the old airport and the Pokhara International Airport.


Yuki Bhambri, Saketh Myneni wins Bangkok Open tennis title 2023

The top-seeded Indian team of Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni came from behind to win the Bangkok Open title, as they beat Christopher Rungkat and Akira Santillan at Nonthaburi, Thailand.
