EC announces assembly poll schedule for Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura
The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule of three North Eastern states Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura assembly polls. Voting for assembly elections in Tripura to be held on February 16 & in Nagaland & Meghalaya on February 27. The results will be declared on March 2.
Background
The term of the current Nagaland assembly is going to end on 12th March this year, while the term of Meghalaya assembly will end on 15th March. In Tripura, the five-year term of assembly is scheduled to end on 22nd March this year.
PM Modi inaugurates second phase of Saansad Khel Mahakumbh 2022-23
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second phase of Saansad Khel Mahakumbh 2022-23 via video conferencing. Saansad Khel Mahakumbh has been organised in Basti district by Harish Dwivedi, Member of Parliament from Basti since 2021.
The Khel Mahakumbh organises various competitions in both indoor and outdoor sports like wrestling, kabaddi, kho kho, basketball, football, hockey, volleyball, handball, chess, carrom, badminton, table tennis etc. Apart from these, competitions in essay writing, painting, rangoli making etc are also organised during the Khel Mahakumbh.
Saansad Khel Mahakumbh 2022-23: Background
The first phase of the Khel Mahakumbh was organised from 10th to 16th December 2022 and the second phase of the Khel Mahakumbh is scheduled from 18th to 28th January 2023.
The Khel Mahakumbh organises various competitions in both indoor and outdoor sports like wrestling, kabaddi, kho kho, basketball, football, hockey, volleyball, handball, chess, carrom, badminton, table tennis etc. Apart from these, competitions in essay writing, painting, rangoli making etc are also organised during the Khel Mahakumbh.
The Khel Mahakumbh is a novel initiative that provides an opportunity and a platform for the youth of District Basti and neighbouring areas to showcase their sporting talent, and motivates them to take sport as a career option. It also endeavours to inculcate the spirit of discipline, teamwork, healthy competition, self-confidence and nationalism among the youth of the region.
41st session of the Network Planning Group (NPG) held in New Delhi
The Network Planning Group (NPG) held its 41st session in New Delhi. Chaired by the Special Secretary of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the meeting saw active participation of senior officials from key member ministries/departments including, DoT, MoEF&CC, M/o Railways, MoPSW, MoCA, M/o Power, Niti Aayog, MoRTH and MoPNG.
INS Delhi Visits Trincomalee, Sri Lanka
India’s first indigenously built destroyer, INS Delhi visited Trincomalee, Sri Lanka from 15 – 17 January 2023. During her stay at Trincomalee, the ship participated in a variety of activities with the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN), which included professional and social interactions, cross deck visits and sports fixtures.
The ship’s visit to Sri Lanka signifies the strong navy-to-navy links and interoperability between Indian Navy (IN) and Sri Lanka Navy (SLN).

Guided missile destroyer, INS Delhi was commissioned in November 1997. She is fitted with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors including BrahMos missiles which makes her capable of detecting and neutralising air, surface and sub-surface threats.
The indigenously designed and built INS Delhi symbolises India’s advanced warship building capability. The ship is a part of Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet based at Visakhapatnam and functions under the operational command of the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command.
