Cabinet approves National Green Hydrogen Mission
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The mission aims to make India a Global Hub for production, utilization and export of Green Hydrogen and its derivatives. Mission will help in India becoming energy independent and in Decarbonisation of major sectors of the economy.
The initial outlay for the Mission will be Rs.19,744 crore, including an outlay of Rs.17,490 crore for the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) programme, Rs.1,466 crore for pilot projects, Rs.400 crore for R&D, and Rs. 388 crore towards other Mission components.
The Mission will result in the following likely outcomes by 2030
- Development of green hydrogen production capacity of at least 5 MMT (Million Metric Tonne) per annum with an associated renewable energy capacity addition of about 125 GW in the country
- Over Rs. Eight lakh crore in total investments
- Creation of over Six lakh jobs
- Cumulative reduction in fossil fuel imports over Rs. One lakh crore
- Abatement of nearly 50 MMT of annual greenhouse gas emissions
Cabinet gives ex-post facto approval for naming of Greenfield International Airport Mopa as Manohar International Airport
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given ex-post facto approval for naming Greenfield International Airport Mopa, Goa as Manohar International Airport – Mopa, Goa, as a mark of tribute to Late Manohar Parrikar, Ex-Defence Minister and Four-time Goa Chief Minister.
The Greenfield Airport at Mopa, Goa was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi in December, 2022. The Airport has been named after Late Dr. Manohar Parrikar, former Chief Minister and Ex-Raksha Mantri of Union of India in recognition of his contribution in building up modern Goa.
1st All India Annual State Ministers Conference on Water to Deliberate Water Vision@2047
The 1st All India Annual State Ministers Conference on Water’’ with the theme “Water Vision@2047” held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh on 5th & 6th January, 2023.
The primary objective of the 2-days Conference is to gather inputs for the India@2047 and 5P vision from the different water stakeholders of the states, water being a state subject, and also to improve engagement and partnership with the states and to share the initiatives and schemes of the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
The ‘5P’ mantra which includes Political will, Public financing, Partnerships, Public Participation and Persuasion for sustainability.
Hindustan Copper signs MoU with IIT Dhanbad for Technical Collaboration
Hindustan Copper Limited and Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaborative and sponsored research projects.
The first technical collaboration with IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, is a momentous occasion for HCL, the only copper miner in India, owning all the operating mining leases of copper ore in the nation. Presently, majority of ore production comes through underground mode only and the level of ore production is hovering around four million tonnes per annum.
