Brigadier Dr. B. D. Mishra appointed as new LG of LadakhBrigadier Dr. B.D. Mishra (retd) took oath as the new Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Ladakh. Brigadier BD Mishra replaced Radha Krishna Mathur as LG of UT Ladakh.

The Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Justice N Kotiswar Singh administered the oath of office to Brig. Dr. B.D. Mishra as LG of UT Ladakh.


Brigadier Dr. B.D. Mishra (Retd.) is the second LG for UT Ladakh after the first LG Radha Krishna Mathur who served Ladakh for three years and four months i.e., from the 31st of October 2019 to the 11th of February 2023. 

Before appointment as the new LG for UT Ladakh, Brig. Dr. B.D. Mishra served as Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.

About as Brigadier Dr. B. D. Mishra Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh

Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) was born to Late Pt. Jagannath Mishra and Late Smt. Dhirajee Devi on 20th July 1939 at Village: Kathauta, Post: Gopiganj, District: Benares now Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi), Uttar Pradesh.

B. D. Mishra is a former Brigadier of the Indian Army. He is the present Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.

Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) is the former Commander of the Counter Hijack Force of the National Security Guard (NSG), popularly known as the Black Cat Commandos, who led a surgical strike on the Indian Airlines hijacked aircraft and after successfully eliminating the hijacker, rescued 126 passengers, 9 infants and 6 crew members at Raja Sansi Airfield, Amritsar, on 24th April 1993. He received Commendation from the Prime Minister of India for this operation.
