Govt appoints IPS officer Ravi Sinha as RAW chief: Senior IPS officer Ravi Sinha has been appointed new chief of India's external intelligence Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) chief for a period of two years.

Sinha will succeed incumbent chief of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) Samant Kumar Goel who will complete his tenure on 30th June 2023.
Ravi Sinha is a 1988 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre. Ravi is currently posted as Special Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of senior IPS officer Ravi Sinha as Secretary, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) for a period of two years.

The Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) was established on 21 September 1968. RAW is the foreign intelligence agency of India. Its main functions are foreign intelligence gathering, counter-terrorism, counter-proliferation, advising Indian policy makers and advancing India's foreign strategic interests.
