India-Bangladesh Bilateral Exercise BONGOSAGAR-23 held in Bay of Bengal

India-Bangladesh Naval Exercise BONGOSAGAR-23: The 4th edition of Indian Navy (IN) – Bangladesh Navy (BN) Bilateral Exercise BONGOSAGAR-23, and the 5th edition of Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) by the two navies was conducted in the Northern Bay of Bengal from 07th to 09th November 2023.

BONGOSAGAR is an annual bilateral exercise between the Indian and Bangladeshi navies. The fourth edition of the exercise was held in Northern Bay of Bengal.

Exercise Bongosagar: Aims

India-Bangladesh Naval Exercise Bongosagar is aimed at developing a high degree of interoperability and joint operational skills through the conduct of a wide spectrum of maritime exercises and operations between the Indian and Bangladeshi navies.

Exercise Bongosagar: Participate by

Indian Navy Ships Kuthar, Kiltan and Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) Dornier participated in the 2023 Bongosagar exercise along with Bangladesh Navy Ships Abu Bakr, Abu Ubaidah and MPA.

India-Bangladesh: CORPAT-23

Indian Navy and Bangladesh Navy Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT-23) also included the maiden Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) drills conducted between the two navies wherein a Search and Rescue scenario at sea was exercised. Regular bilateral exercises and coordinated patrols have strengthened mutual understanding and cooperation between the two navies.
