Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhyadham: The Union Cabinet has recently approved the proposal to declare Ayodhya Airport as an international airport. The airport has been named "Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhyadham", reflecting the Hindu historical and cultural importance of the area.

The proposal to make Ayodhya Airport an international airport and name it "Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhyadham" has been approved by the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Elevating Ayodhya Airport to international status is paramount for realising Ayodhya's economic potential and its significance as a global pilgrimage site, opening doors to foreign pilgrims and tourists.

Ayodhya with its deep cultural roots is strategically positioned to become a major economic hub and pilgrimage site. The airport's ability to attract international pilgrims and businesses is consistent with the city's historical prominence.

The main purpose of naming the airport, "Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhyadham" is to pay homage to Maharishi Valmiki, the sage who composed the epic Ramayana, thereby adding a cultural touch to the identity of the airport.

The development of the airport will be according to the phase method. Upon completion of its initial phase, the airport will have the capacity to handle 10 lakh passengers annually. After the second phase of development, Maharishi Valmiki International Airport will be able to serve 60 lakh passengers annually.
