The 5th edition of India-Oman Joint Military Exercise AL NAJAH has begun at Rabkoot Training Area in Salalah, Oman. The Exercise AL NAJAH is scheduled to be conducted from 13th to 26th September 2024. The exercise will focus on operations in the Desert environment.

The India-Oman Joint Military Exercise AL NAJAH V will be held at Rabkoot Training Area in Salalah, Oman from 13th to 26th September 2024.

Joint Military Exercise AL NAJAH has been held biennially since 2015, alternating between India and Oman. Last edition of the Exercise AL NAJAH was conducted at Mahajan in Rajasthan.
Indian Army Participates in Exercise AL NAJAH V
A total contingent of 60 personnel of the Indian Army is being represented by a battalion of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment as well as personnel from other branches and services in the 5th edition of the India-Oman Joint Military Exercise ‘Al Najah’.

Omani Royal Army Participates in Exercise AL NAJAH V
The Omani Royal Army contingent also comprises 60 personnel, which will be represented by Frontier Force troops in Exercise Al Najah V.
Exercise AL NAJAH V: Aims
Aim of the Joint Exercise AL NAJAH is to enhance the joint military capability of India and Oman to undertake counter terrorism operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. The exercise will focus on operations in the Desert environment.
Exercise AL NAJAH V will allow both sides to exchange best practices in tactics, techniques and procedures for joint operations. It will foster interoperability, goodwill and camaraderie between the two armies. Additionally, the joint exercise will strengthen defence cooperation and further enhance the bilateral relations between the two friendly nations.

Exercise AL NAJAH V: Tactical Drills
Tactical drills to be rehearsed during the exercise AL NAJAH V include Joint Planning, Cordon and Search Operation, Fighting in Built Up Area, establishment of Mobile Vehicle Check Post, Counter Drone and Room Intervention, among others. Combined field training exercises that simulate real-world counter-terrorism missions have also been planned.
