Prime Minister of Norway meets on the President Kovind

The Prime Minister of Norway, Ms Erna Solberg called on the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, at Rashtrapati Bhavan. (January 8, 2019).

RBI set up 5-member panel under Nandan Nilekani to boost digital payments

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) constituted a 5-member high-level committee under Aadhaar architect Nandan Nilekani to suggest measures to strengthen the safety and security of digital payments in the country.


The five-member committee would be headed by Nandan Nilekani, chairman of Infosys Technologies and former chairman, Unique Identification Authority of India.


  • The other panel members are H R Khan, former deputy governor at RBI.
  • Kishore Sansi, former managing director at Vijaya Bank.

  • Aruna Sharma, former secretary, ministry of information technology.
  • Sanjay Jain, chief innovation officer, Center for Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship, IIM Ahmedabad.

India born Gita Gopinath joins IMF as its first female chief Economist

MysoreIndia-born Gita Gopinath joined International Monetary Fund (IMF) as its 11th chief economist, thus becoming the first woman to occupy the top IMF post.

Gopinath, 47, succeeds Maurice (Maury) Obstfeld as economic counsellor and director of the IMF's research department. Obstfeld retired December 31.

She is the John Zwaanstra professor of International Studies and Economics at Harvard University.

Maharashtra to host Khelo India Youth Games 2019

Maharashtra is all set to host the second edition of Khelo India Youth Games which will officially begin in Pune.

The event will conclude on 20th January 2019. Khelo India Youth Games 2018 was held at Delhi.

Vikram Misri takes charge as India’s new envoy to China

India's new envoy to China Vikram Misri, who assumed office. He is a 1989-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer.
