Jaxay Shah appointed as the new Chairman of Quality Council of India   

Jaxay Shah, former Chairman of CREDAI and founder Chairman of Savvy Group has been appointed as the Chairman of Quality Council of India (QCI) for a period of three years effective from 21st October 2022.

The incumbent chairman succeeds the former McKinsey India Chief Adil Zainulbhai who served as the Chairman of QCI through three terms for a period of eight years from 2014 to 2022.

PM Modi lays foundation stone of road and ropeway projects in Mana, Uttarakhand 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of road and ropeway projects worth more than Rs 3400 crore in Mana, Uttarakhand. Earlier in the day, PM Modi visited Kedarnath and performed darshan and pooja at Shri Kedarnath Temple. 

PM Modi also visited the Adi Guru Shankaracharya Samadhi Sthal and reviewed the work in progress along Mandakini Asthapath and Saraswati Asthapath. PM Modi also visited Badrinath and performed darshan and pooja at Shri Badrinath Temple. He then reviewed the work in progress along the Alaknanda riverfront.

Key Highlights with Details 

The ropeway in Kedarnath will be around 9.7 Km in length and will connect Gaurikund to Kedarnath, thereby reducing the travel time between the two places from 6-7 hours at present to merely 30 mins. The Hemkund ropeway will connect Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib. It will be around 12.4 Km in length and will reduce the travel time from more than a day to only about 45 mins. This ropeway will also connect Ghangaria, which is the gateway to Valley of Flowers National Park.

The foundation stones of road widening projects worth around Rs 1000 crore will also be laid during the visit. The two road widening projects - from Mana to Mana Pass (NH07) and from Joshimath to Malari (NH107B) - shall be another step towards providing last-mile all-weather road connectivity to our border areas. Apart from boosting connectivity, these projects will also prove beneficial from a strategic point of view as well.


India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 219.53 Cr; Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.76%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 219.53 Cr (2,19,53,88,326) as per provisional reports till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 4.12 Cr (4,12,27,878) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.

India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 24,043. Active cases now constitute 0.05% of the country's total Positive Cases. 2,112 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.76%. 3,102 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,40,87,748.

The Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 0.97% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 1.01%.
