RBI imposes ₹5 lakh penalty on Shri Mahila Sewa Sahakari Bank 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹5.00 lakh (Rupees five lakh only) on Shri Mahila Sewa Sahakari Bank Ltd., Ahmedabad, Gujarat for contravention of directions issued by RBI on ‘Maintenance of Statutory Reserves – Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) and Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR) by Primary (Urban) Co-operative Banks’; ‘Loans and advances to directors etc. – directors as surety/guarantors – clarification’; ‘Loans and advances to directors, relatives, and firms/concerns in which they are interested’; ‘Declaration of dividend by Urban Co-operative Banks (UCBs)’ and ‘Depositor Education and Awareness Fund Scheme, 2014’.


RBI's revised bank locker rules to come into effect from 1st January 2023 

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has mandated banks in the country to renew their locker agreements with existing locker customers by 1st January 2023.

Key Highlights

All the existing locker depositors are required to furnish proof of eligibility for a renewed locker arrangement. They are required to sign a renewal agreement before the specified date. 

RBI advises the banks to install CCTV cameras at entry and exit points of the strong room and the common areas of operation. It mandates the preservation of its recording for a period of not less than 180 days.

RBI has also instructed banks to ensure that any “unfair terms or conditions” are not covered in their locker agreements. The revised guidelines add that the terms of the agreement shall not be more “onerous than required in ordinary course of business” to secure the interests of the bank.


PM Modi participates in historic programme marking 'Veer Bal Diwas'  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a historic programme marking ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi today. During the programme, the Prime Minister attended a ‘Shabad Kirtan’ performed by about three hundred Baal Kirtanis.

The 68-year-old Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Centre chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' was appointed as the country's new prime minister on 25 December 2022 after he submitted a letter to President Bidya Devi Bhandari showing the support of 169 members in the 275-member House of Representatives.


India's Geto Sora wins Junior International Badminton Championship title 2022
