NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra for the development of green hydrogen and derivatives (green ammonia, green methanol) up to 1 million tone per annum capacity.

The Maharashtra Government has signed MoU with NGEL as a part of green investment plan for the next five years. The agreement envisages a potential investment of approximately ₹ 80, 000 crores.
The agreement covers development of renewable energy projects with up to 5 GW of storage in the state, including 2 GW of pumped storage projects.
About NGEL
The full form of NGEL is "NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL)". NGEL is a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC and aims to become the flag bearer of NTPC's renewable energy journey with the operationalization of 7 GW of renewable energy and operational capacity of 3.4 GW and over 26 GW.
