President of the Republic of Mauritius Dharambeer Gokhool conferred the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (G.C.S.K) award, the highest civilian award of Mauritius, on Prime Minister Modi. This is the 21st international honour given to PM Modi by a foreign country. PM Modi visited Mauritius to attend the 57th National Day celebrations of Mauritius as the Chief Guest.

PM Modi confers Mauritius' highest civilian honour Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 57th National Day celebrations of the Republic of Mauritius as the Chief Guest.
On the occasion of the 57th National Day celebration President of Mauritius Dharambeer Gokhool conferred the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (G.C.S.K) award, the highest civilian award of Mauritius, on Prime Minister Modi. This is the first time that an Indian leader is receiving this honour.

Indian Navy Participates in Mauritius National Day Parade
The Indian Navy's marching contingent took part in the parade during Mauritius' National Day celebrations. An Indian Navy ship also landed at the port on the occasion of National Day celebrations.
PM Modi presented a gift to President Dharambir Gokhool
Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented holy Sangam water from Maha Kumbh in a brass and copper pot, and makhana to President of Mauritius Dharambeer Gokhool.
Prime Minister Modi also presented Mrs Gokhool a Banarasi silk saree from Varanasi in a carved Sadeli box from Gujarat.
Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean
The Most Distinguished Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean is the highest civilian honours of Mauritius established under the National Awards Act 1993. It was established in 1992 to honour individuals who have contributed to social progress in Indian Ocean countries.
The award may also be conferred on non-Mauritian citizens.
