Indigenous Pollution Control Vessel Samudra Prachet Launches for Indian Coast Guard

Indigenous Pollution Control Vessel ‘Samudra Prachet’ (PCVs) constructed by Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) was launched for Indian Coast Guard (ICG) in Goa. The indigenous pollution control vessel 'Samudra Prachet' is 114.5 metres long, 16.5 metres wide and has a displacement of 4,170 tonnes and will have 14 officers and 115 sailors deployed on it. Samudra Prachet is India's 2nd indigenously built Pollution Control Vessel launched by Smt. Priya Paramesh President Tatrakshika in presence of Director General of Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Paramesh Sivamani. With 72% indigenous content, the Pollution Control Vessel ‘Samudra Prachet’ has significantly contributed to national capability-building, employment generation, and skills enhancement, through active engagement of the local industry and MSMEs.

Samudra Prachet is India's 2nd indigenously built Pollution Control Vessel launched by Smt. Priya Paramesh President Tatrakshika in presence of Director General of Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Paramesh Sivamani, AVSM, PTM, TM.

Samudra Prachet is the last of the two indigenous Pollution Control Vessels (PCVs) constructed by Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL). The First Pollution Control Vessel was launched on August 29, 2024 and is expected to be delivered soon.

Samudra Prachet ships have been fitted with state-of-art Response Equipment and these vessels will help ICG in quick and effective response to any oil spill in the Exclusive Economic Zone.

The indigenous pollution control vessel 'Samudra Prachet' is 114.5 metres long, 16.5 metres wide and has a displacement of 4,170 tonnes and will have 14 officers and 115 sailors deployed on it.

Vessel Samudra Prachet is equipped with two side-sweeping arms capable of collecting oil spills while underway, as well as a modern radar system for detecting oil slicks. The vessel is engineered to recover oil across the full viscosity spectrum, pump in contaminated water, analyse and separate pollutants, and store recovered oil in dedicated onboard tanks.

Launching Ceremony of Pollution Control Vessel Samudra Prachet

The Pollution Control Vessel Samudra Prachet was launched by Guest of Honour Smt Priya Paramesh, in presence of the Chief Guest Director General ICG (DGICG) Paramesh Sivamani.
