The Exercise Bright Star is a multilateral exercise hosted by Egypt in conjunction with the US since 1980 and is amongst the largest Tri-Service multilateral exercises in the region.

This is the 19th edition of Ex Bright Star 25 which will be held on Egyptian soil and is expected to be one of the largest military exercises in the Middle East.

The Multilateral Exercise Bright Star 25 will involve 43 countries including India, with 13 countries participating directly through more than 7,900 soldiers and 30 others joining as observers.

The aim of the Multilateral Exercise Bright Star 2025 is to practice planning and execution of joint operations. Besides leading to the formation of bonding across borders, such interactions also provide a means to further strategic relations between participating nations.
Indian Armed Forces Personnel Participate in Exercise Bright Star 2025
More than 700 personnel from India's Armed Forces & Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff are set to participate in the Multilateral Exercise Bright Star 2025 from August 28 to September 10, 2025.

The upcoming edition of Multilateral Exercise Bright Star 2025 will feature a comprehensive spectrum of military activities, including:

- Short Training Exercises by all three Services focusing on varied aspects of modern warfare.
- Subject Matter Expert Interactions on multiple domains of contemporary military operations.
Participation of the Indian Armed Forces in the Exercise Bright Star 2025 underscores India’s commitment to regional peace, stability, and security while enhancing Jointness, interoperability and cooperation with friendly foreign countries.
India and Egypt Relations
India and Egypt have had exceptional relationship and deep cooperation wherein the two jointly undertook development of aero-engine and aircraft in 1960s and training of Egyptian pilots was done by Indian counterparts.

The relationship between the two civilizational countries was further strengthened with the recent visits by the Chief of Air Forces of the two countries and the Indian Defence Minister and Prime Minister to Egypt. The Multilateral Exercise Bright Star led by the United States and Egypt is held biennially, with the last edition of Exercise Bright Star 23 was taken place from August 27 to September 16, 2023, at Cairo (West) Air Base in Egypt. The Indian Air Force took part in Ex BRIGHT STAR-23 for the first time along with contingents from the US, Saudi Arabia, Greece, and Qatar.
