The 14th edition of the India - Thailand joint military exercise Maitree-XIV has begun at Joint Training Node (JTN), Umroi, Meghalaya. The exercise Maitree-XIV is being conducted from 1st to 14th September 2025. India-Thailand Military Exercise Maitree-XIV aims to enhance cooperation, joint engagement and mutual understanding between the Indian Army and the Royal Thai Army. The 13th edition of the exercise Maitree was held at Fort Vachiraprakan in Tak Province, Thailand.

India - Thailand Joint Military Exercise Maitree-XIV Commences in Meghalaya

The 14th edition of the India - Thailand joint military Exercise Maitree-XIV commenced with a grand opening ceremony at Joint Training Node (JTN), Umroi, Meghalaya. The exercise is being conducted from 1st to 14th September 2025.

The bilateral exercise Maitree 2025 is part of the ongoing military-to-military exchange programme between the two countries.

The Joint Military Exercise Maitree is designed to enhance the operational capabilities of both armies in undertaking joint company-level counter-terrorism operations in semi-urban terrain, under the United Nations mandate-reflecting the shared commitment towards global peace and security.

The exercise will also further strengthen bilateral Defence Cooperation and camaraderie between the Indian Army and the Royal Thai Army.

Opening Ceremony of India-Thailand Joint Military Exercise Maitree-XIV

The opening ceremony of the 14th edition of the Joint Bilateral Military Exercise Maitree between Indian Army & Royal Thai Army was conducted today at the Foreign Training Node, Umroi, Meghalaya.

Aims of India-Thailand Military Exercise Maitree-XIV

India-Thailand Military Exercise Maitree-XIV aims to enhance cooperation, joint engagement and mutual understanding between the Indian Army and the Royal Thai Army.

The joint exercise will focus on company level counter-terrorist operations in semi-urban terrain under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.

India-Thailand Military Exercise Maitree-XIV: Participates by

The Indian Army contingent to participate in the Military Exercise Maitree-XIV comprises 120 personnel, represented by a battalion of the Madras Regiment.

The Royal Thai Army contingent comprising 53 personnel is represented by the 1st Infantry Battalion, 14th Infantry Brigade.

Tactical Drills of Military Exercise Maitree 2025

The two-week long Indo-Thai Military Exercise Maitree 2025 programme includes tactical drills, joint planning, special arms skills, physical fitness and raiding operations. The exercise will culminate with a 48-hour validation exercise, simulating realistic operational scenarios.
