BJP MP Om Birla appointed as the new 17th Lok Sabha Speaker

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Om Birla appointed as the new 17th Lok Sabha Speaker.

Om Birla, 57, is a two term Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Rajasthan’s Kota-Bundi seat.

Om Birla will be replacing previous Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan who did not contest the Lok Sabha elections this year.

Om Birla was elected to the Rajasthan Assembly in 2003, 2008 and 2013 and served as a minister of state in the Vasundhara Raje government.
