NIT-Uttarakhand students to move to permanent campus soon

Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' announced the students of NIT Uttarakhand will soon get a permanent campus.

Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' held a meeting with the Minister of Higher Education, Uttarakhand Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat and Member of Parliament, Pauri- Garhwal, Tirath Singh Rawat regarding the permanent campus of National Institute of Technology (N.I.T), Uttarakhand.


After the meeting, Union Minister Pokhriyal informed that the permanent campus of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Uttarakhand will be established in Sumari village in Srinagar, Uttarakhand.


Parliament passes Protection of Human Rights Amendment Bill 2019


The Lok Sabha has already passed the Bill. The Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 was enacted to provide for the constitution of a National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) and the Human Rights Courts for protection of human rights.


The Bill amends the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. Under the present Act, the chairperson of the NHRC is a person who has been a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

The Bill amends this to provide that a person who has been Chief Justice of the Supreme Court or a Judge of the Supreme Court will be the chairperson of the NHRC.

Similarly, a former high court judge can also become a state human rights commission chairperson besides a high court chief,according to the Bill.......Read More


Lok Sabha passes the Right to Information Amendment Bill 2019

Lok Sabha passed the Right to Information (Amendment) Bill, 2019. In this amendment, it is proposed to amend the Right to Information Act, 2005 so as to provide that the term of office of, and the salaries, allowances and other terms and conditions of service of, the Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioners and the State Chief Information Commissioner and the State Information Commissioners, shall be such as may be prescribed by the Central Government.

Oriental Bank of Commerce posts ₹112.7 crore net profit in Q1

Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) has posted a net profit of Rs 112.7 crore in the June quarter. The company had posted a loss of Rs 393.2 crore in the year ago period.


Lasith Malinga set to retire after first Bangladesh ODI

Sri Lankan legendary fast bowler Lasith Malinga is all set to retire after playing the 1st match of the 3-match ODI series against Bangladesh.

Malinga is currently the 3rd highest wicket-taker in ODI cricket for Sri Lanka with 335 wickets in 219 innings with only Muttiah Muralitharan (523) and Chaminda Vaas (399) above him on the list.
