PM Modi releases results of 4th cycle of All India Tiger Estimation - 2018

Global Tiger Day: Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the results of the fourth cycle of All India Tiger Estimation - 2018, at Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi.

 The count of tigers in India, has risen to 2967, in 2018, according to this survey.

 India has achieved the target of doubling the tiger count four years ahead of the deadline.

The country now has 2,967 tigers, which has been the result of a growth of 33 per cent in the fourth cycle of the Tiger Census.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, at the release of the All India Tiger Estimation Report 2018, Nine years ago it was decided in St. Petersburg that target of doubling tiger population will be 2022. We completed this target 4 years early.........Read More


India and Mozambique Sign Two MoUs to Further Strengthen Defence Co-Operation


The documents were signed following a meeting between Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his Mozambican counterpart Atanasio Salvador M'tumuke.

 Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh is currently on an official visit to Maputo, Mozambique from July 28-30, 2019.

 This is Rajnath Singh’s first visit abroad as Raksha Mantri and the first-ever visit of Defence Minister of India to Mozambique.

The two MoUs include an agreement on sharing white shipping information and another on co-operation in the field of Hydrography.

Defence Minister of Mozambique, Mr. Atanasio Salvador M’tumuke briefed Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh on the internal security situation and the ongoing Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) process. The Raksha Mantri conveyed best wishes for the ongoing peace process.


Mozambique sought co-operation from India to deal with the growing menace of terrorism and radicalisation. Rajnath Singh assured co-operation and reiterated commitment to work together in this regard.......Read More


India and Myanmar Sign Mou on Defence Co-Operation


MoU was signed after talks between the Minister of State for Defence, Shripad Naik and Myanmar's Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services (CDS), Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in New Delhi.


The talks were aimed at enhancing defence co-operation, review joint exercises and training provided to Myanmar Defence Services, strengthen maritime security by joint surveillance and capacity building, medical co-operation, pollution response and for developing new infrastructure.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing (MAH), Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services (CDS) of the Republic of Union of Myanmar, is currently on an official visit to India from 25th July – 2nd August, 2019.........Read More


SBI cuts interest rates on fixed deposits (FDs), Check new rates here

The country's largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) cuts interest rates on fixed deposits (FDs) on various tenors.

 Interest rates have been reduced by 50-75 basis points (bps) for time deposits with shorter tenors of up to 179 days.

The longer tenors, there is a reduction of up to 20 bps in the retail segment and 35 bps in the bulk segment.......Read More
