1. India, Maldives sign MoU for passenger, and cargo services
  • The Lok Sabha was informed, India and Maldives signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on passenger, and cargo services in male last month. 
  • In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, the Minister of State for Shipping, Mansukh Mandaviya said, the objective of the MoU is to improve people to people contact between the two countries by providing an alternate, direct and less expensive means for transport for passengers and goods. It also aims to advance economic, social and cultural ties between the two countries.

2. Over 22 Lakh New Msmes Registered Between March 2018 - March 2019
  • 22.83 lakh Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) were registered on Udyog Aadhaar Portal in the country during March, 2018 to March 2019.
  • The Ministry of MSME facilitates access to finance for Micro and Small Enterprises through its schemes / programmes namely Prime Minister’s Employment Generation programme (PMEGP), Credit Guarantee Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises and Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme.

3. 1,40,134 Houses Sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana(Urban) in the 45th CSMC
  • The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has approved the construction of around 1,40,134 more affordable houses for the benefit of urban poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). 
  • The approval was given in the 45thmeeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee held in New Delhi. The cumulative number of houses sanctioned under PMAY(U) now is 85,11,574. 
  • CSMC considered proposals from 8 States , namely Uttar Pradesh (54,277), West Bengal (26,585), Gujarat (26,183), Maharashtra (8,499), Assam (9,328), Chhattisgarh (6,507), Rajasthan (4,947) & Haryana (3,808).

4. Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) has been setup to create scientific temper among school students-HRD Minister
  • The Government of India is encouraging the schools to provide exposure of science and technology to students so that they can be exposed with futuristic technology platforms.
  • Government has setup the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) at NITI Aayog.
  • The objective of establishing AIM is to create scientific temper and cultivate a spirit of curiosity and innovation among young minds. In Schools, AIM facilitates to set up network of Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATL).

5. Fifteenth Finance Commission holds meeting with the Government of Chhattisgarh
  • The 15th Finance Commission headed by Chairman, N.K. Singh along with its Members and senior officials met with the Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh along with his Cabinet colleagues and senior State Government officials.

6. India may launch $10 billion global bond sale in October: Report
  • The government is considering an option to raise $10 billion in one go from its first overseas bond sale as early as October, according to people familiar with the matter.
  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the offshore bond sale plan in the annual budget, amid shrinking options to raise funds to boost spending on infrastructure.

7. Jonty Rhodes applies for Team India's fielding coach job
  • Former South Africa cricketer Jonty Rhodes has applied for the position of India's fielding coach, after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) invited application for the position of head coach and support staff for the Indian team.

8. Byju's to replace Oppo on Team India jersey
  • Come September, there will be a new brand name on Team India jerseys. Chinese mobile-maker Oppo, which had made a winning bid of about Rs 1,079 crore for the jersey rights in March 2017 for a period of five years, will make way for Byju's, the Bangalore-based educational technology and online tutoring firm.
