Health Ministry signs MoU Ministry of Social Justice for enhanced HIV/AIDS outreach

Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, stressed the need for a "sub-department of health" in all the ministries as the Health Ministry signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry for enhanced HIV/AIDS outreach.

The National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare signed an MoU with the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment (DoSJE) under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE).

The MoU was signed by Special Secretary and Director General (NACO and RNTCP) Sanjeeva Kumar and Additional Secretary (DoSJE) Upma Srivastava.

The MoU will help in reaching out to the marginalised groups and will provide opportunity for empowerment and access to social protection schemes by the high risk population, persons engaged in begging, People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV), and Children affected by HIV & AIDS (CABA).

The Union Health Minister further said that it aims at reducing incidence of social stigma and discrimination against victims of drug abuse and Children and People Living with HIV/AIDS.

Karnataka CM Yediyurappa appoints 3 deputy CMs, check here who is the deputy CM appointed in Karnataka

 In a first for the Karnataka State, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa appoints three deputy chief ministers.

Karnataka Chief Minister Yediyurappa appointed Govind Makthappa Karajol, Ashwath Narayan CN and Laxman Sangappa Savadi as the deputy chief ministers.

 Laxman Savadi is not an elected MLA or MLC but has been appointed as one of the deputy chief ministers.

Ashwath Narayana has been allocated Higher Education,IT/BT science & technology while Laxman Sangappa Savadi has been allocated Transport.

7th Community Radio Sammelan to be held in Delhi from 27 to 29 August

The Seventh Community Radio Sammelan will be held at Dr. BR Ambedkar Bhawan, New Delhi from 27th to 29th August, 2019.

The Sammelan, being organized by Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, will witness participation of all operational Community Radio Stations across the country.

The theme of this year’s Sammelan is ‘Community Radio for SDGs’. The representatives of the Community Radio Stations will discuss experiences and possibilities of programming for better public awareness on the Sustainable Development Goals.

Union minister Prakash Javadekar will on August 28 give awards to community radio stations for their achievements in broadcasting development programmes in various genres including promotion of local culture, most creative and innovative content, community engagement awards, among others.
