Parliament passes the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Bill, 2019

Rajya Sabha passed the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment (UAPA) Bill, 2019, to the anti-terror law to give powers to the central government to designate an individual as terrorist and seize his properties.

The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Bill that seeks to amend the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, was passed by Rajya Sabha with 147 votes in favour and 42 against.

Replying to a debate on the amendment, Home Minister Amit Shah said a four-level scrutiny has been provided in the amendment and no human rights will be violated.

 He said declaring individuals as terrorists is required as they float different organisations once an institution is banned.

Individuals who participate in terrorist activities, aid those indulging in such activities, propagate the ideology of terrorism and members of known terrorist organizations will be declared as terrorists after this amendment is passed........Read More


Rajya Sabha Passes The Code on Wages Bill, 2019

Rajya Sabha passed The Code on Wages Bill, 2019 after due consideration and discussionLok Sabha has already passed the billon July 30, 2019. The Bill will become an Act after Presidential assent.

The Code on Wages Bill, 2019 ensure statutory protection for minimum wages and timely payment of wages to approximately 50 crore workers of organized as well as unorganized sector.

It will be the first Code to become an Act out of the four Codes: Code on Wages; Industrial Relations; Social Security and Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions which Ministry of Labour and Employment has formulated.

Ministry aims to simplify, rationalise and amalgamate various labour laws into four Labour Codes in line with the recommendations of the second National Commission on Labour. India slips to 7th spot in Global GDP Rankings of 2018: World Bank

India has slipped down to the 7th place in the global GDP rankings of 2018, with the UK and France forging ahead to the fifth and sixth spots, data compiled by the World Bank showed.

According to the 2017 World Bank report, India had become the fifth largest economy, displacing UK and France.

The USA remains the top economy with a GDP of $20.5 trillion in 2018.

China was the second largest economy with $13.6 trillion, while Japan took third place with $5 trillion.


India’s GDP was at $2.7 trillion in 2018, which is less than that of the UK and France, which had a GDP of $2.82 trillion and $2.78 trillion respectively.
