1. 66th National Film Awards for 2018 announced 
  • Ayushman Khurana and Vicky Kaushal jointly won Best Actor Award for their performances in ‘Andhadhun’ and ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, while Keerthy Suresh was declared winner of Best Actress trophy for her performance in Telugu movie ‘Mahanati’.
  • Aditya Dhar won Best Director Award for ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’. Marathi movie Naal got the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director.

2. Pension Scheme: Registration opens for PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana
  • Registration for the PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana begins said Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, while addressing a Press Conference in Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi.
  • Farmers across the country to join the old age pension Scheme, the Minister said that the scheme has been envisioned with an aim to improve the life of small and marginal farmers of the country.

3. 3rd International Electric Vehicle Conclave held in Manesar, Gurugram
  • The 3rd International Electric Vehicle (EV) Conclave held at the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) in Manesar, Gurugram.
  • The Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Arjun Ram Meghwal, inaugurated the 3rd International Electric Vehicle (EV) Conclave.

4. 22nd National Conference on e-Governance 2019 successfully concludes at Shillong
  • Government of India and the State Government of Meghalaya organized the 22nd National Conference on e-Governance (NCeG) 2019 on 8-9th August, 2019 at Shillong, Meghalaya.

5. Industrial production growth slips to four-month low of 2% in June
  • India's industrial production (IIP) growth slipped to a four-month low of 2 percent in June, mainly on account of poor show by mining and manufacturing sectors, according to official data released on August 9.
  • IIP grew at 2.7 percent in March, 4.3 percent in April and 4.6 percent in May this year.

6. SBI, Bank of Baroda cuts MCLR
  • India's biggest bank State Bank of India (SBI) on Wednesday cut its marginal cost of fund-based lending rate (MCLR) by 15 basis points across all tenors.
  • SBI's one-year MCLR will come down to 8.25% per annum from 8.40% earlier. MCLR is the minimum interest rate that a bank can lend at and is linked to the actual deposit rates.
  • Earlier, Bank of Baroda, had cut its MCLR with effect from 7 August 2019 by 15 basis points, with the new one-year MCLR rate at 8.45%.

7. BCCI has agreed to come under the ambit of NADA
  • The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will now come under the ambit of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). This means India's cricketers will now be tested by NADA.
