1. Indian Navy, CIAL sign MoU for commencement of naval air operations
- The Naval Air Enclave (NAE) in Kochi and Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for commencement of naval air operations from the NAE.
- The facility comprising an independent dispersal, aircraft hangar, administrative building and taxy track, located on the northwest side of CIAL. Military aircraft would use the CIAL runway for take off and landing and the NAE taxi track for proceeding to and from the dispersal /hangar.
2. Hardeep Puri launches Swachh Survekshan 2020
- Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday launched the Swachh Survekshan 2020 (SS 2020), the fifth edition of the annual cleanliness survey conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
- The Swachh Survekshan 2020 Toolkit, SBM Water PLUS Protocol and Toolkit, Swachh Nagar – an integrated waste management app and AI enabled mSBM App were also launched.
3. PM Modi inaugurates dynamic lighting at Parliament House Complex
- The Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the dynamic lighting facility at Parliament House Complex on the evening of Tuesday, 13th August, 2019.
- This lighting facility has become increasingly popular among citizens, encouraging more people to visit these landmarks in the heart of Delhi.
4. Japanese Maritime Self Defence Ship Visits Kochi
- A missile destroyer, JS Sazanami of the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF), commanded by Commander Shoji Ishkawa, is on a two day goodwill visit to Kochi from 13 Aug 19.
- JS Sazanami with about 25 officers, 156 sailors and eight Japanese Coast Guard personnel (3 officers + 5 sailors) on board for the current deployment is planned to depart for Bahrain on 14 Aug 19.
