1. President Kovind Presents National Sports and Adventure Awards
  • The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, presented the National Sports and Adventure Awards at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (August 29, 2019) on the occasion of National Sports Day.

2. PM Modi launches the Fit India Movement
  • The Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Fit India Movement at a ceremony in New Delhi on the occasion of National Sports Day.
  • The Prime Minister urged the people of the country to make fitness their lifestyle.
  • Launching the people’s movement on the birth anniversary of Major Dhyanchand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Major Dhyanchand, India’s sports icon who enthralled the world with his game and techniques.

3. Jitendra Singh chairs meeting to review ongoing projects of North East and future plans
  • The Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (IC) Dr Jitendra Singh chaired a review meeting with the officials of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) and North Eastern Council (NEC) in New Delhi. Secretary, MDoNER; Secretary, NEC; and other senior officials were present during the meeting.
  • Minister Dr Jitendra Singh was informed that all the North-Eastern States have provided data for the Education and Research Network (ERNET ) paving way for bringing the NER under Digital India Programme to make the citizens of the country digitally empowered in the field of technology.

4. Ministry of Civil Aviation launches Aviation Jobs Portal
  • Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State (I/C) for Civil Aviation, Housing & Urban Affairs and Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, launched an Aviation Jobs Portal for Aspirants and prospective Employers in New Delhi.
  • The portal aims to provide a common platform for job seekers to register their job interests across various civil aviation sub-sectors. Prospective Employers, who have completed their KYC under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs MCA-21 database would be eligible to register themselves on the portal.

5. Prahlad Singh Patel inaugurates Water Conservation system and Baby care & Feeding Room at Taj Mahal Premises
  • The Union Minister of State for Culture & Tourism (Independent Charge), Shri Prahlad Singh Patel inaugurated a Water Conservation system and Babycare & Feeding Room at the premises of Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
  • The Union Culture Minister inaugurated the Water Conservation System which in its first turn out about 10000 litre of polluted water coming out of RO System into the old well located in the premises of the heritage site. Prahlad Singh Patel also inaugurated Baby Care and Feeding room in Taj Mahal for the convenience of female tourists.

6. India-UK workshop on Science for Disaster and Emergency Risk Management
  • A two days India-UK workshop on Science for Disaster and Emergency Risk Management was inaugurated in Delhi by Dr. P. K. Mishra, Additional personal secretary (PS) to the PM.
  • The key objective of the workshop is to share the Indian and UK advice mechanisms and practices for using science and technology in the management of emergencies and disasters.
