Government launches ‘UMMID’ initiative to tackle inherited genetic diseases of newborn babies


This initiative of the government will help the future generation in treating and preventing these diseases caused by genetic disorders.

 The Minister also inaugurated NIDAN (National Inherited Diseases Administration) Kendras. 

The new initiative aims at creating awareness about genetic disorders amongst clinicians and establish molecular diagnostics in hospitals so that the benefits of developments in medical genetics could reach patients.

The UMMID initiative aims (i) to establish NIDAN Kendras to provide counselling, prenatal testing and diagnosis, management, and multidisciplinary care in Government Hospitals wherein the influx of patients is more, (ii) to produce skilled clinicians in Human Genetics, and (iii) to undertake screening of pregnant women and new born babies for inherited genetic diseases in hospitals at aspirational districts.....Read More


Nitin Gadkari and RK Singh inaugurate National Conclave on Energy Efficiency in MSME sector

Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Road Transport & Highways and RK Singh, Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy (IC) jointly inaugurated the National Conclave on Enhancing Energy Efficiency in MSME sector in New Delhi.

The two-day Conclave is being organized by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency(BEE) with participation from MSME entrepreneurs, Industry Associations, technology and service providers, sectoral energy experts and senior officials from the Government.

During the inaugural session, an MoU for enhancing energy security in MSMEs was also signed between the Development Commissioner, MSME and DG,Bureau of Energy Efficiency for developing a long term roadmap for enhancing energy efficiency and security for the MSME Sector through focused intervention.

The MoU includes area of cooperation for comprehensive energy mapping of MSMEs on pan India, development of appropriate schemes and programs to improve energy security of MSMEs.

India Post expands speed post service to six new foreign countries

India Post expanded speed post service to six new foreign destinations in Asia, Europe and South America.

The Department of Posts has announced commencing of International Speed Post (EMS) Service to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Ecuador, Kazakhstan, Lithuania and North Macedonia.

EMS or Express Mail Service is a premium service that enables its users to send documents and merchandise faster and with the added facility of being able to track the movement of the item on the internet.

This facility is expected to augment people to people contact with these countries and foster trade as EMS is popular channel for small and medium enterprises.

The EMS service to these countries will henceforth be available at major Post offices across India.
