Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh launches Navy's first new stealth frigate, INS 'Nilgiri'

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh launched the warship Nilgiri, which is the first ship of Project 17A, and said that launching the first of such stealth frigates has brought him immense pride and satisfaction for the defence capabilities of the country.

INS Nilgiri is the first of the Indian Navy's seven new stealth frigates with enhanced stealth features fitted with State-of-the-art weapons & sensors. This multi-mission frigate would be capable of dealing with conventional & unconventional threats to India’s Maritime interests.
