1. President Kovind to visit Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal from September 27 to October 1
  • The President of India, Ram NathKovind, will visit Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal from September 27 to October 1, 2019.
  • On September 28, 2019, the President will present Colours to Corps of Army Air Defence at Gopalpur, Odisha.
  • On September 29, 2019, the President will visit Vikas Bharti, Bishunpur, Gumla in Jharkhand.
  •  On October 1, 2019, the President will visit the National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities in Kolkata, West Bengal.

2. PM Modi meets President of Iran Hassan Rouhani
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the President of Iran H.E. Dr. Hassan Rouhani in New York on the sidelines of the High Level Segment of the 74th Session of UNGA.
  • They discussed bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest.
  • It was agreed to mark the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2020.

3. President Kovind Inaugurates Seminar of Spirituality for Human and Social Development
  • The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated a seminar on ‘Spirituality for Human and Social Development’ in New Delhi.
  • This seminar is being organised by the Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

4. PM Modi meets Cyprus President on the sidelines of UNGA 74 in New York
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades on the sidelines of the 74th UN General Assembly.
  • Both leaders discussed the broad spectrum of bilateral relations, pursuant to the State visit of Hon’ble President of India to Cyprus in September, 2018.
  • In 2018-19, bilateral trade stood at US$ 464 mn. The two leaders stressed the need to enhance the volume of bilateral trade and investment given the considerable potential and strengths of the two economies.

5. Prime Minister's meeting with President of Estonia on sidelines of UNGA 74
  • Prime Minister met President of the Republic of Estonia, H.E. Ms Kersti Kaljulaid on the sidelines of UNGA 74. Both the leaders had a detailed discussions on a broad spectrum of bilateral relations pursuant to the fruitful visit of Vice President of India to Estonia in August 2019.
  • Both leaders discussed steps to deepen bilateral cooperation in the domain of e-Governance, Cyber security and Innovation. Prime Minister further thanked Estonia for its support to India’s candidature for UNSC non-permanent seat for 2021-2022. 
  • The meeting provided an opportunity to brief Estonia and to seek their views on enhanced opportunities for bilateral cooperation, thus further strengthening our existing friendly ties.

6. Bilateral meeting of PM Modi with Ms Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of New Zealand
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Prime Minister of New Zealand Ms. Jacinda Ardern on the sidelines of UNGA meetings in New York on 25th September 2019.
  • Both leaders reviewed the state of bilateral relations and discussed steps to intensify political, economic, defence, security and people to people relations.
  • They also discussed the global and regional issues of mutual interest, including the issue of international terrorism and appreciated the convergence of views between the two countries on this issue.

7. DRDO and Central University of Jammu sign MoU to set up Kalam Centre for Science and Technology
  • The Central University of Jammu has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence for the establishment of Kalam Centre for Science and Technology (KCST).
  • The MoU has been inked to facilitate and undertake multidisciplinary directed basic and applied research and technology development in computational system security and sensors.

8. India to host 2nd edition of joint international hackathon ‘Singapore India Hackathon 2019’ at IIT Madras on 28-29 September 2019
  • India will hold the second edition of joint hackathon with Singapore, the ‘Singapore India Hackathon 2019’ at IIT Madras on Sep 28 and 29, 2019.
  • The aim of this joint international hackathon is to promote engagement and collaboration of student community in India with the rest of the world and to develop innovative and out- of -the- box solutions for some of the daunting problems faced by our societies.
