RBI imposes Rs 1 crore fine on Lakshmi Vilas Bank, Rs 75 lakh on Syndicate Bank for violating norms

The Reserve Bank has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 1 crore on Lakshmi Vilas Bank and Rs 75 lakh on Syndicate Bank for violating asset classification and fraud detection norms.

According to the RBI said in a release, "The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated October 14, 2019, imposed monetary penalty of Rs 1 crore on Lakshmi Vilas Bank Ltd for non-compliance with certain provisions of directions issued by RBI on ‘Income Recognition and Asset Classification (IRAC) norms".........Read More


Retail inflation rises to 3.99% in September at the highest level of 14 months

India's Retail inflation based on consumer price index accelerated to a 14-month high of 3.99 per cent in September against 3.28 per cent in August, government data showed on 14th October.

The consumer price index (CPI) based inflation was registered at 3.28 percent in August. On a year-on-year basis, the inflation was 3.70 percent in the September 2018.

On year-on-year (yoy) basis, the inflation was 3.70 per cent in the September 2018. Food price inflation in September came at 5.11 per cent against 2.99 per cent in August.

The inflation print for vegetables shot up to 15.40 per cent during the month from 6.9 per cent. Besides, price rise in pulses and meat and fish baskets for the reported month was higher over August......Read More


India and Sierra Leone sign six agreements for cooperation in various fields

India and Sierra Leone signed 6 agreements to expand bilateral relations in various fields and also agreed to push for UNSC reforms so that one-third of mankind residing in Africa and India occupy their rightful place in decision making bodies of the UN.

The agreements were signed in the presence of Mr. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone and the Vice President who arrived in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, on the second and last leg of his tour to African nations.

 On the second leg of his visit to two African nations, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu is in Sierra Leone.

India announced the decision to establish a High Commission in Sierra Leone, even as both the countries have agreed to enhance cooperation in agriculture, food processing, Information Technology, infrastructure development and capacity building.
India and Sierra Leone signed six agreements to achieve self-sufficiency in rice production. The agreements include extending a credit line of $30 million for rice cultivation.

India’s developmental assistance to Sierra Leone so far aggregated to US$ 217.5 million for various sectors including agriculture, energy, water resources and telecommunication.....Read More

India and Netherlands launched the second phase of the LOTUS-HR

The King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Kingdom of Netherlands and the Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Harsh Vardhan jointly launch the second phase of the LOTUS-HR (Local Treatment of Urban Sewage streams for Healthy Reuseplant) as a part of joint collaboration, at the Barapullah drain, in New Delhi on Oct 14, 2019.

The launch programme was held during the visit of Netherlands King & the Queen to the India Netherlands water laboratory at the Barapullah drain Delhi.

The project was initiated in July 2017 and aims to demonstrate a novel holistic (waste) water management approach that will produce clean water which can be reused for various purposes. The innovative pilot scale modular plant upon commissioning will treat 10,000 L sewage water per day and will showcase a self-sustaining model for the end user.


The LOTUS-HR project is jointly supported by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research /STW, Government of Netherlands........Read More
