India and Switzerland decide to carry forward working together in the area of Rail Transport


The two sides at meetings that concluded last evening have followed upon the 1st meeting of Joint Working Group (JWG) held between the two sides after the MoU for cooperation in rail sector was signed in 2017.

The Indian side was led by the Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal at these high-level delegation level meetings. The Swiss delegation comprising Swiss Officials from Department of Transport and representatives from Swiss companies was led by Her Excellency Simonetta Sommaruga, Hon’ble Federal Councilor and Head of the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy & Communications.


Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal, while thanking the Swiss delegation, impressed upon the Make-in-India to enable their products to be competitive in India and use it as a platform for the global market. President Ram Nath Kovind visits in Japan to attend Enthronement Ceremony of Emperor Naruhito


The President of India Ram Nath Kovind reached Tokyo, Japan, on (October 21, 2019) in the final leg of his visit to two nations - Philippines and Japan.

October 22, 2019, the President attended the enthronement ceremony of the Emperor Naruhito of Japan in the Imperial Palace.

This is the first presidential visit to Japan from India after a gap of 19 years. The last presidential visit was in 1990 when the then president, Ramaswamy Venkatraman, attended the enthronement ceremonies of Emperor Emeritus Akihoto who stepped down last year.
October 21, 2019, the President visited the Tsukiji Hongwanji Buddhist Temple and planted a sapling from Bodh Gaya. He also visited the Shinto Meiji Shrine and interacted with a delegation from the Gotemba Pagoda.

Code on Wages Bill

Recently Government of India has taken many steps for the welfare of workforce of the country. Code on Wages has been passed by Parliament in August this year and now State Governments should frame rules regarding Code on Wages, fix minimum wages and organize awareness campaign so that maximum number of unorganized sector workers may be benefitted.
Code on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions has been sent to Parliamentary Standing Committee after being introduced in the Lok Sabha. Two-day International Workshop on Environmental Flows Assessment and Implementation for India held in New Delhi

The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) is organizing a two-day International workshop on Environmental Flows Assessment and Implementation for India was inaugurated by Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister for Jal Shakti at Delhi.

The exchange of Indian, European and International Experiences was brought together by National Mission of Clean Ganga (NMCG) along with the Indo-German Cooperation with its project “Support to Ganga Rejuvenation” (SGR).

The deliberations in this workshop and further research work would help in coming up with an advanced version of this e-flow guidance document in future.

The international workshop aims to assist in the e-flows implementation in India by answering the following questions:
  • What are the overall aims and targets for e-flows assessment in India?
  • What are the short- and long-term steps to implement e-flows according to the overall aims and targets.
