1. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu to embark on a two-nation tour to Africa
  • The Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu will embark on a tour to Comoros and Sierra Leone on October 10.
  • This will be the first-ever visit by such a high-level Indian dignitary to Comoros, an archipelago situated off the Southeast coast of Africa and to Sierra Leone.

2. Ministry of Tourism organises first of its kind Adventure Trekking Training course in Ladakh
  • Ministry of Tourism organises first of its kind Adventure Trekking Training course in Ladakh, this 10 days training course trains local youth in various aspects of mountain trekking and also gives them hands on experience.
  • Over 30 local youth enrolled in the first batch which started on 24th September 2019. Approximately 90 local youth will be trained in three batches.
  • The training programmes will be completed by 12th October 2019. The trekking programme starts with a briefing and the participants cover places like Spithuk, Then, Zinchen, Rumbak, Stok la Base, Stock within 10 days and will return to Leh.

3. India to shift to BS VI vehicular emission norms by April next year: Union Environment Minister
  • Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar, said India to shift to BS VI vehicular emission norms by April next year.
  • The Minister further informed that Bharat Stage Six (BS VI), is a revolutionary step in the transformation of fuels. He added that there has been an 80% reduction in Particulate Matter emissions and 30% reduction in Nitrogen Oxides emissions in BS IV heavy duty diesel vehicles compared with BS III norms.

4. Jal Shakti Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launches Ganga Aamantran Abhiyan
  • Ganga Aamantran Abhiyan: Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has launched Ganga Aamantran Abhiyan, a unique open-water rafting and kayaking expedition on the Ganga River to create awareness on Ganga rejuvenation and water conservation.
  • The ‘Ganga Aamantran Abhiyan’ is a pioneering and historic exploratory open-water rafting and kayaking expedition on the Ganga River to be held between 10th October 2019 to 11 November 2019. Starting at Devprayag and culminating at Ganga Sagar, the expedition will cover the entire stretch of over 2500 kms of the Ganga River.
