Ram Vilas Paswan releases Water Quality Report for State Capitals, Mumbai tops ranking for quality of tap water, Delhi at bottom as analysed by BIS

Ranking for Quality of Tap Water: The Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan released the findings of a study that was conducted through the Bureau of India Standards (BIS) on the quality of piped drinking water.

In the first phase, the samples of drinking water were drawn from various locations across Delhi and in the second phase samples were drawn from 20 State capitals and sent for testing as per Indian Standard 10500:2012 (Specification for Drinking Water) as set by the BIS.
Tests were conducted on various parameters such as Organoleptic and Physical Tests,Chemical test, Toxic substances and Bacteriological tests in the first stage. A vast majority of the samples have failed to comply with the requirements of IS 10500:2012 in one or more parameters.

Mumbai topped the ranking released by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for quality of tap water. Delhi finished at the bottom, with 11 out of 11 samples failing on 19 parameters.

In the cities of Hyderabad, Bhubaneshwar, Ranchi, Raipur, Amravati and Shimla, one or more samples did not comply with the requirements of the Standard and none of the samples drawn from 13 of the State Capitals i.e. Chandigarh,Thiruvananthapuram, Patna, Bhopal, Guwahati, Bengaluru, Gandhinagar, Lucknow, Jammu, Jaipur, Dehradun, Chennai, Kolkata complied with the requirements of the Indian Standard...........Read More



Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurate 1st Winter-Grade Diesel outlet in Ladakh

1st Winter-Grade Diesel outlet in Ladakh: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the first Winter-Grade Diesel outlet for Ladakh region, through a video-link, which will help to address the problem faced by people due to loss of fluidity in Diesel fuel during extreme winter conditions.

The winter grade diesel produced by Panipat Refinery for the first time has a pour point of 33  degree Celsius and does not lose its fluidity function even in extreme winter weather of the region, unlike the normal grade of Diesel which becomes exceedingly difficult to utilize.


This Winter-Grade Diesel will not only smoother the travel and transportation during peak tourist season in extreme cold, but will also help in giving a boost to tourism and supply needs of the people of the region and helping in the overall economic development.......Read More



Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh holds various bilateral meetings on the sidelines of ADMM-Plus in Bangkok

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh is in Thailand’s capital Bangkok to attend the 6th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus). On the sidelines of ADMM-Plus, Raksha Mantri held bilateral meetings with US Secretary of Defence Dr Mark T Esper, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand General Prawit Wongsuwan, Defence Minister of Japan Mr Taro Kono, Defence Minister of Australia Ms Linda Reynolds and Defence Minister of New Zealand Mr Ron Mark.

In the deliberations, Rajnath Singh reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral defence relations with the respective leaders and discussed ways to further improve the ties.

The ADMM-Plus meeting will be held tomorrow in which Defence Ministers of 18 ADMM-Plus countries will take part.



Home Minister launches winter-grade diesel suitable for extreme winters of up to -30O Celcius for Ladakh Region

Union Home Minister ShriAmit Shah presided over a function to launch a special winter-grade diesel, developed by Indian Oil Corporation (Indian Oil), for the high-altitude regions of Ladakh through a video-link.

Availability of winter-grade diesel will promote tourism and smooth transportation in Ladakh Region during extreme winters -- A big step towards promoting ease of living.
