Bangladesh topped foreign tourist visits to India 2018, Tamil Nadu top destination in India


 Bangladesh beats the US, UK in sending most tourists to India.
 Bangladesh was followed by United States(US) and United Kingdom(UK) in the second and third place respectively.

Statistics given by the Ministry of Tourism to parliament show that from from Bangladesh, 13,80,409 tourists arrived in 2016. The numbers saw a significant increase in 2017 as they jumped to 21,56,557. In 2018, it peaked with 22,56,675 tourists arriving in India.

 Tamil Nadu saw the most visits by foreign tourists among individual states, these were over 60 lakh.

Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh lagged behind with over 50 lakhs and 37 lakh visits. Delhi, in the fourth place, saw 27,40,502 tourist visits. Rajasthan in the last place saw around 17 lakh tourists visit the state.......Read More

Manisha Kulshreshtha won 28th Bihari Puraskar for 2018

Noted writer from Rajasthan, Manisha Kulshreshtha, was awarded the 28th Bihari Puraskar for 2018 for her novel 'Swapnapash'.

The award has been given by KK Birla foundation. The award carried a citation, a cash prize of Rs 2.5 lakh and a plaque.

Kulshreshtha (52) was born in Jodhpur and is a graduate in science and postgraduate in Hindi literature. She is known for her works like ‘Shigaf’, ‘Shalbhanjika’ and ‘Panchkanya’.

Indian journalist Neha Dixit was one of the award winners of the International Press Freedom Awards 2019, awarded by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), a non-profit organization whose aim is to enable journalists to work without fear of reprisal. 

Dixit received the award for her reports on sex trafficking scandals in India by Investigative reporter in Miami Herald, Julie k.Brown.



Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh addresses DRDO Industry synergy summit 2019 held in Hyderabad, Telangana

Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh has attended the DRDO Industry Synergy Summit 2019, held in Hyderabad, Telangana organised the Defence Research and Development Organisation(DRDO).

Raksha Mantri said, under the Defence Production Policy, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has set the target of $26 billion for aerospace, defence services and goods by 2025. In this, approximately $10 billion is targeted for creating job opportunities for 20-30 lakh people.

Raksha Mantri appreciated that DRDO has nurtured more than 1,800 industries which are actively working together to produce defence systems. He asked the DRDO and industry to explore new ways for enhancing synergy to achieve the goal of self-sufficiency.

Kailash Chandra Josh was the first Non-Congress and the 9th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh from 24 June 1977 to 17 January 1978.
