7th edition of India-Sri Lanka joint training Exercise MITRA SHAKTI 2019 will be held in Pune from 01 - 14 December
The seventh edition of India-Sri Lanka joint training Exercise MITRA SHAKTI– 2019 is scheduled to be conducted at Foreign Training Node (FTN), Pune from 01 - 14 December 2019. The sixth edition of the exercise was held in Sri Lanka.
The aim of this joint training exercise is to build and promote positive relations between armies of India and Sri Lanka with focus on sub unit level training for counter insurgency & counter terrorism operations in urban and rural environment under United Nations mandate.

Four-Day ‘Destination North East’ Festival concludes in Varanasi
The Four-day ‘Destination North East’ festival organised by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India concluded in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
The festival was organised in Varanasi for the first time.
The 4-day event from 23rd to 26th November 2019 held at IIT BHU grounds, Varanasi, all the eight North Eastern States participated in the event along with their respective handicrafts, handloom, organic products and cultural troupes.
The four-day festival attracted people from all walks of life. B2B sessions were also held during the festival. The previous editions of ‘Destination North East’ were held in Delhi and Chandigarh.
Center approves 3.31 lakh more houses under PMAY(U)
The 49th Meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), held in New Delhi, approved 606 proposals from participating States for the construction of 3,31,075 houses with an overall investment of Rs 15,125 Cr involving central assistance of Rs 5,092 Cr.
This includes six Light Houses Projects (LHPs) for construction of 6368 houses to be built across 6 States namely Gujarat (1,144), Jharkhand (1,008), Madhya Pradesh (1,024), Tamil Nadu (1,152), Tripura (1,000 ) and Uttar Pradesh (1040).
The number of houses approved by the CSMC are in Andhra Pradesh (2,58,648), Karnataka (30,777), Madhya Pradesh (15,245), Gujarat (13,805), Maharashtra (4,691) & Uttarakhand (1,541).
Cabinet approves Agreement and Protocol between India and Chile for avoidance of double taxation
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the signing of the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) and Protocol between the Republic of India and the Republic of Chile for the elimination of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion and avoidance with respect to taxes on income.
The MoU Highlight With Details:
The DTAA will facilitate elimination of double taxation. Clear allocation of taxing rights between Contracting States through the Agreement will provide tax certainty to investors & businesses of both countries while augmenting the flow of investment through fixing of tax rates in source State on interest, royalties and fees for technical services.......Read More

Cabinet approves MoU signed between India and Myanmar for Prevention of Trafficking in Persons
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given approval for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Myanmar on bilateral cooperation for Prevention of Trafficking in Persons; Rescue, Recovery, Repatriation and Reintegration of victims of Trafficking.
The MoU Highlight With Details:
- To strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two countries and to increase bilateral cooperation on the issues of prevention, rescue, recovery and repatriation related to human trafficking.
- To strengthen cooperation to prevent all forms of human trafficking and to protect and assist the victims of trafficking
- Ensure speedy investigation and prosecution of traffickers and organized crime syndicates in either country.
- To strengthen immigration and border controls cooperation and implementation of strategies with relevant Ministries and Organizations to prevent trafficking in persons.
- Setting up Working Groups/ Task Force to make efforts to prevent human trafficking
- Develop and share database on traffickers and victims of trafficking in a safe and confidential manner and exchange information through designated focal points of India and Myanmar
- Capacity building programmes for the agencies concerned of both countries.
- Formulation and adoption of Standard Operating Procedures for Rescue, Recovery, Repatriation and Integration of the victims of trafficking.......Read More

Cabinet approves MoUs signed between India and Saudi Arabia in the field of combating illicit trafficking and smuggling of Narcotic Drugs
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given ex-post facto approval for the MoUs between India and Saudi Arabia in the field of combating illicit trafficking and smuggling of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Chemical Precursors.
The MoU Highlight With Details:
The MoU shall facilitate and enhance the cooperation between the two countries in combating illicit trafficking and smuggling of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and chemical precursors, as defined by the United Nations International Drug Control Conventions.
Under the MoU, there is a provision for the exchange of relevant information as well as methods, identities and suspicious activities of producers, smugglers and traffickers of narcotic drugs, details of trafficking of NDPS and Precursors Chemicals on requisitions and financial details of the traffickers arrested on drug related charges.
