1. PM Midi inaugurates 5th India International Science Festival at Kolkata via video conferencing
  • The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, inaugurated via video conference, the 5th India International Science Festival at Kolkata.
  • The theme of the festival “RISEN: Research, Innovation and Science Empowering the Nation” reflects the aspirations of 21st century India.
  • The prime objective of the festival is to instill scientific temper among people, showcase India’s contribution in the field of S&T and encourage translation of its benefits to people. It aims to build a strategy for inclusive advancement of Science and Technology.


2. Rising Himachal 2019: Global Investors meet in Dharamshala
  • The State Government of Himachal Pradesh is organizing Global Investors' Meet 2019,a flagship business event, at Dharamshala on November 7 -8, 2019.
  • Commerce and Industry and Railway Minister, Piyush Goyal will attend the Rising Himachal Global Investors' Meet 2019 and inform about the investment and policies of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for promoting investment in Himachal Pradesh and the hill states of India.
  • This event will showcase the policy and regulatory environment, investment opportunities in eight focus sectors to boost manufacturing and employment generation in the State.


3. Indian Railways has celebrated Vigilance Awareness Week 2019 with the theme “Integrity-a way of life”
  • Indian Railways has observed Vigilance Awareness Week- 2019 with the theme “Integrity- A way of life (ईमानदारी-एक जीवन शैली)” from 28th October, 2019 to 02nd November 2019 all over Indian Railways with mass participation at all levels. Integrity pledge was taken on 28th October, 2019 by the officials of the Ministry of Railways, Zonal Railways, Divisions, PUs & PSUs to commence the Vigilance Awareness Week.


4. Ministry of Tourism participates in three day long World Travel Market (WTM) in London
  • The Ministry of Tourism is participating in the three day long World Travel Market (WTM) from November 04-06, 2019 in London, UK.
  • The theme for India Pavilion at WTM 2019 is ‘Incredible India – Find the Incredible India’. A total of 32 stakeholders, including State Governments, Union Territory Administrations, Air India, IRCTC, Hotels, Wellness resorts and tour operators are participating as co-exhibitors in the India Pavilion.


5. Kolkata students create Guinness World Records with largest astrophysics assemble
  • The Guinness World Records for the largest astrophysics lesson (45 minutes) and assembly of spectroscopes was successfully achieved at the Science City, Kolkata on the first day of India International Science Festival (IISF) 2019 with the participation of over 1,598 students.
  • Astronomers use spectroscopes to know details like temperature, chemical composition, etc. of celestial objects hundreds or millions of light years away from us.


6. Union Cabinet Secretary reviews the Air Pollution Situation
  • Union Cabinet Secretary reviewed the progress made in the arrangements to control Air Pollution in the National Capital Region.
  • It was observed that the cases of crop stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana still continues continued and that there is a need for more focussed action.
  • These States have now been directed that more monitoring teams should be deployed on the field to ensure that violators are taken to task by imposing suitable penalties.


7. International Conference on Soil and Water Resources Management for Climate Smart
  • Agriculture and Global Food & Livelihood Security begins in New Delhi Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) inaugurated the five day-long “International Conference on Soil and Water Resources Management for Climate Smart Agriculture and Global Food and Livelihood Security” at the National Agricultural Science Centre Complex in New Delhi.
  • The conference is being organized jointly by the Soil Conservation Society of India in association with World Association of Soil and Water Conservation (WASWAC), China and International Soil Conservation Organization (ISCO), U.S.A. with the objective to deliberate upon the various issues and challenges of soil and water conservation.


8. Jitendra Singh inaugurates National Workshop on CPGRAMS Reforms organised by DARPG
  • The National Workshop on Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) Reforms, organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions in New Delhi.
  • During the event, Minister Dr Jitendra Singh launched the CPGRAMS reforms for Departments of Financial Services and Telecommunications (DoT).
  • He also launched the ‘Online Hackathon on Data-Driven Innovation for Citizen Grievance Redressal’. The Minister also inaugurated an exhibition on CPGRAMS.


9. Indian Navy prepared for Relief operations in the wake of Cyclone 'Maha'
  • With cyclone 'Maha' over East Central Arabian Sea intensifying into an Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm, the Western Naval Command of the Indian Navy is prepared to undertake Humanitarian and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations along Gujarat and North Maharashtra Coast, if required.
