1. Cabinet approves creation of the post of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) in the rank of four star General
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved to create the post of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) in the rank of a four-star General with salary and perquisites equivalent to a Service Chief. 
  • The Chief of Defence Staff will also head the Department of Military Affairs (DMA), to be created within the Ministry of Defence and function as its Secretary.


2. Cabinet approves ex-post facto agreement on Security Cooperation between India and Saudi Arabia
  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given ex-post facto approval on an Agreement on Security Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of India and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that was signed on 29th October, 2019 during the visit of Hon'ble Prime Minister to Saudi Arabia.


3. Cabinet approves MoU between India and Bangladesh on cooperation in Youth matters
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was apprised of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between India and Bangladesh on cooperation in Youth matters. The MoU was signed on 5th October, 2019 at New Delhi.


4. Cabinet approves ex-post facto agreement on International Terrorism between India and Uzbekistan
  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given ex-post facto approval on an Agreement between the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Cooperation in the field of Combating Transnational Organized Crime and International Terrorism.


5. Cabinet approves Signing of MoU between India and Brazil on Bioenergy Cooperation
  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its approval for signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of India and the Federative Republic of Brazil on Bioenergy Cooperation.
  • The MoU provides a framework to cooperate and promote investment in biofuel, bioelectricity and biogas supply-chains, including feedstock, industrial conversion, distribution and end use sectors.


6. Cabinet approves Signing of Protocol to amend the Air Services Agreement between India and Switzerland
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the signing of the Protocol to amend the Agreement between the Swiss Federal Council and the Government of India related to air services and to exchange Diplomatic Notes with Switzerland for bringing the amendments in the Air Services Agreement into force as per Article 17 thereof.


7. Cabinet approves Atal Bhujal Yojana
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval for the implementation of the Atal Bhujal Yojana (ATAL JAL), a Central Sector Scheme with a total outlay of Rs.6000 crore to be implemented over a period of 5 years (2020-21 to 2024-25).
  • The scheme aims to improve ground water management through community participation in identified priority areas in seven States, viz. Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.


8. Cabinet approves funds to the tune of Rs. 627.40 crore for 10 projects sanctioned during 2018-19 in Swadesh Darshan Scheme
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval to release funds to the tune of Rs. 627.40 crore for the 10 projects sanctioned during 2018-19 and additional Rs. 1854.67 crore for sanctioning of new projects during 2019-20 in Swadesh Darshan Scheme.


9. Cabinet approves conduct of Census of India 2021 and updation of National Population Register (NPR)
  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the proposal for conducting Census of India 2021 at a cost of Rs. 8,754.23 crore and updation of National Population Register (NPR) at a cost of Rs. 3,941.35 crore.


10. Cabinet approves MoU between India and Saudi Arabia for cooperation in the field of Renewable Energy
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was apprised of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy of the Government of India and the Ministry of Energy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for cooperation in the field of Renewable Energy. This was signed on 29th October, 2019 in Riyadh.


11. Cabinet approves Strategic Tunnel under Rohtang Pass to be renamed after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to honour the contribution of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee by naming the Strategic Tunnel under Rohtang Pass after him on December 25, 2019, which happens to be his birthday.


12. Dharmendra Pradhan unveils India's First CNG Bus which can run 1000 Kms in one fill
  • Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Steel, today unveiled India's first long distance CNG bus fitted with composite CNG cylinders, which can travel around 1000 kms in a single fill. 
  • The project has been executed by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) and has been achieved through pioneering design of Type IV Composite Cylinders in buses, replacing traditional very heavy Type-I Carbon Steel cylinders.


13. HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ inaugurates 65th National School Games of SGFI in New Delhi
  • Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ inaugurated Lawn Tennis Event (Under 19, Boys & Girls) of 65th National School Games organised by School Games Federation of India (SGFI) at R.K. Khanna Stadium in New Delhi.
  • A total number of 232 qualified Tennis Players have gathered in Delhi selected from 23 states for the National Level competition here. These players will compete in different categories for the next four days till 28th December.
