1. INDIA and ADB sign $206 million loan to strengthen urban services in 5 Tamil Nadu cities

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India on 2nd December 2019 signed a $206 million loan to develop water supply and sewerage infrastructure in 5 cities of Tamil Nadu and strengthen capacities of urban local bodies (ULBs) for improved service delivery.
The signatories to the loan agreement were Mr Sameer Kumar Khare, Additional Secretary (Fund Bank and ADB), Department of Economic Affairs in India’s Ministry of Finance, and Mr Kenichi Yokoyama, Country Director of ADB’s India Resident Mission.

Parliament passed the Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (Merger of Union Territories) Bill, 2019. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G. Kishan Reddy addressed the Rajya Sabha and said that the bill has been brought to provide for merger of union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, in view of fruitful utilization of manpower, improve administrative efficiency, reduce administrative expenditure and improve service delivery as well as facilitate better monitoring of schemes.

3. ECI to implement “Political Parties Registration Tracking Management System” (PPRTMS)

The Election Commission of India has reviewed the system and process of registration of political parties. The new guidelines will be effective from 1st January,2020.
Accordingly the “Political Parties Registration Tracking Management System” (PPRTMS) will be implemented through an online portal, to facilitate tracking of status of application by applicants.

4. Minister Piyush Goyal to Inaugurate 3rd edition of National Public Procurement Conclave

The 3rd edition of National Public Procurement Conclave (NPPC) is being organised by Government e-Marketplace (GeM) in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on 5-6 December 2019 in New Delhi.
The conclave will be inaugurated by Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Railways, Piyush Goyal.

5. Ministry of Civil Aviation Launches Round 4 of RCS- UDAN

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has launched the 4th round of Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)- UdeDeshKaAamNagrik( UDAN) to further enhance the connectivity to remote and regional areas of the country.
Focus of this round would be the priority areas like NER, Hilly States, J&K, Ladakh and Islands.
