Henley Passport Index 2020: India ranked 84th, Japan tops spot in the Index

Henley Passport Index 2020: According to the latest report released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Henley & Partners, Indian passport has been ranked 84th in the list of world's most powerful passports.

World's most powerful passports ranking 2020: India's passport ranking dropped 2 places in 2020 to the 84th position where it is tagged along with Mauritania and Tajikistan.

Indian passport got a score of 58, which means Indian passport holders can visit 58 countries without prior visa.
Japan continued to top the list of world's most powerful passports as it got the first rank, followed by Singapore, Germany and South Korea.

23rd National Youth Festival-2020 to be organized from 12th to 16th January, 2020

23rd National Youth Festival-2020: Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and State Government of Uttar Pradesh are jointly organizing 23rd National Youth Festival (NYF) 2020 at Indira Pratishthan, Lucknow from 12th to 16th January, 2020. Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath and Minister of State (I/C) for Youth Affairs & Sports, Kiren Rijiju will inaugurate the NYF 2020 on 12th January on the occasion of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the great Youth icon.

Amit Shah inaugurates Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) in New Delhi

Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah, inaugurated the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and also dedicated National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal to the Nation. This state-of-the-art Centre is located in New Delhi.

The scheme to setup I4C was approved in October 2018 at an estimated cost of Rs. 415.86 crore, to deal with all types of cybercrimes in a comprehensive and coordinated manner. It has seven components viz., National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit, National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, National Cyber Crime Training Centre, Cyber Crime Ecosystem Management Unit, National Cyber Crime Research and Innovation Centre, National Cyber Crime Forensic Laboratory Ecosystem and Platform for Joint Cyber Crime Investigation Team. At the initiative of the Union Ministry for Home Affairs (MHA), 15 States and UTs have given their consent to set up Regional Cyber Crime Coordination Centres at respective
States/UTs.

More than 700 police districts and more than 3,900 police stations have been connected with this Portal.


Union Power Minister releases State Energy Efficiency Index 2019

Raj Kumar Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and New & Renewable Energy released the ‘State Energy Efficiency Index 2019’ in New Delhi, which tracks the progress of Energy Efficiency (EE) initiatives in 36 states and union territories based on 97 significant indicators.

The index was released on the occasion of RPM ( Review, Planning and Monitoring) meeting, which is being held on 09-10 Jan 2020 at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, New Delhi.

The index is developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in association with Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE).

It will help states contribute towards national goals on energy security and climate action by helping drive EE policies and program implementation at the state and local level, tracking progress in managing the states’ and India’s energy footprint and institutionalising the data capture and monitoring of EE activities by states.


MS Swaminathan and G Muniratnam chosen for Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu National Awards

Eminent Agricultural Scientist Dr M S Swaminathan and well-known social worker, Dr. Gutta Muniratnam were respectively chosen as the first recipients of ‘Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu National Award for Excellence’ and ‘Muppavarapu National Award for Social Service’’

The National Award for Excellence was instituted by the Muppavarapu Foundation, while the one for Social Service was launched by the Swarna Bharat Trust, in Hyderabad.
