1. Army chief General Bipin Rawat became India’s 1st Chief of Defence Staff

Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has been appointed as India’s 1st Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
The CDS is a 4-star single-point military adviser to function as a single-point advisor to the government on matters related to the military and will focus on better synergy between the Army, Air Force and the Navy.
General Bipin Rawat was commissioned into the Indian Army in December 1978 and is currently serving as Chief of the Army Staff since January 01, 2017.

The central government extended the deadline for linking Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar by March next year. The earlier deadline was December 31.
This is the eighth time that the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the deadline for individuals to link their PAN with Aadhaar.
