1. President Kovind Presents International Gandhi Awards for Leprosy

The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, presented the International Gandhi Awards for Leprosy to Dr N.S. Dharmashaktu under the Indian nomination (individual) category and the Leprosy Mission Trust under the institutional category.

2. DRDO Signs Technology Development Contract with Rosoboronexport Russia

The sideline of the DefExpo 2020, High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL) is the DRDO laboratory signed technology development contract with Rosoboronexport, Russia for development of Advanced Pyrotechnic Ignition Systems.
This technology development will facilitate design and development of state of art solid rocket motors for upcoming products. These products will be based on compact and energy efficient propulsion systems.

3. 5th Round of India-Russia Military Industrial Conference held in Lucknow, 14 MoUs signed

The 5th round of India-Russia Military Industrial Conference (IRMIC) was conducted on 6th February 2020 on the sidelines of Defexpo-2020 at Lucknow.
The conference was co-chaired by Dr. Ajay Kumar, Defence Secretary from the Indian Side and Mr. Oleg Ryazantsev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russian Federation.
During the conference a total of 14 MoUs were exchanged between the Russian OEMs and the Indian companies.

4. 1st India-Africa Defence Ministers’ Conclave 2020 held in Lucknow

The first India-Africa Defence Ministers’ Conclave held in Lucknow on February 06, coinciding with DefExpo-2020, adopted the Lucknow Declaration.

5. 22nd edition of India International Seafood Show to be held in Kochi from 7-9 February 2020

The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), under Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, in association with the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI), is organizing the 22nd edition of India International Seafood Show (IISS) 2020 in Kochi from 7-9 February 2020.
The theme of this year’s seafood show is “Blue Revolution- Beyond Production to Value Addition”.

6. India becomes second largest steel producer of Crude Steel

As per World Steel Association data, India became the second largest steel producer of crude steel after China in 2018 and 2019, by replacing Japan.
India’s crude steel production in 2018 was at 109.3 MT, an increase of 7.7 per cent from 101.5 MT in 2017.

7. Under 19 World Cup Cricket: Bangladesh defeat New Zealand to enter finals

Bangladesh defeated New Zealand to enter the U-19 World Cup Cricket 2020 finals. It is the first time Bangladesh has reached the finals of the U-19 WCC.
Bangladesh will now play against India in the U-19 World Cup Cricket 2020 finals this Sunday in South Africa.
