  • Veteran Bollywood Actor Rishi Kapoor has passed away due to cancer in Mumbai today. He was 67.
  • The Veteran Bollywood actor was admitted to HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday night.
  • Rishi Kapoor was battling cancer since 2018, and was in the US for treatment for a year.


2. Eminent Banker Shri Suresh N. Patel takes oath as Vigilance Commissioner
  • Eminent Suresh N. Patel took oath as Vigilance Commissioner today. Following social distancing norms, he was administered the oath of office by Shri Sanjay Kothari, Central Vigilance Commissioner on video link.

  • The Government of India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a $1.5 billion loan that will support the government’s response to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, focusing on immediate priorities such as disease containment and prevention, as well as social protection for the poor and economically vulnerable sections of the society, especially women and disadvantaged groups.

  • Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh announced extension of curfew in the state by two weeks after May 3.
  • The curfew/lockdown in the state will now remain in force in Punjab till May 17 though limited easing of restrictions will be in place from tomorrow from 7 am to 11 am every day.
