FM Nirmala Sitharaman announces fifth and final tranche of Atma Nirbhar Bharat Package, Outlines reforms in seven areas: Highlights with Details

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled the fifth and final tranche of financial stimulus and policy measures to help build a self-reliant India under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Campaign. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on Tuesday in his address to the nation announced a special economic package equivalent to 10 per cent of India’s GDP, amounting to 20 lakh crore rupees.

Addressing a media briefing in New Delhi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman outlined structural reforms with focus on seven areas of MNREGA, Health and Education, Business during Covid, Decriminalisation of Company Act, Ease of doing business, Policy related to Public Sector Units, State government and resources related to it.


Under the MNREGA scheme, an additional 40 thousand crore rupees will be allocated for employment generation in the rural parts of the country. She said, this will help to generate nearly 300 crore person days to provide relief to the migrant workers.

The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, more than 11 thousand crore rupees have been released to the states as advance from State disaster relief fund in the first week of April and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare released another 4 thousand 113 crores rupees for direct anti-covid activities.....Read More





Madhya Pradesh launches Charan Paduka initiative for migrant labourers: Highlights with Details 

In Madhya Pradesh, in a first of its kind of initiative, Charan Paduka (चरण पादुका) campaign has been started for the migrant labourers passing through the state. Under this campaign, the migrant labourers going barefoot are being providing shoes and slippers to reduce their pain. The most notable thing is that this campaign is being conducted by the police at most places.

Centre Govt extends nationwide lockdown till May 31, States empowered to demarcate Red, Orange and Green zones: Highlights with Details 

Fourth phase of nationwide lockdown begins today. Union Home Ministry had yesterday extended the nationwide lockdown for fourteen more days, till 31st of this month. The lockdown since 24th March has helped considerably in containing the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

The fourth phase (4.0) of lockdown will however witness substantial relaxations than its previous versions

All domestic and international air travel of passengers, except for domestic medical services, domestic air ambulance and for security purposes or purposes as permitted by MHA will remain prohibited even in the fourth phase of lockdown. Apart from this Metro Rail Services will also remain suspended.

Schools, colleges, educational, training and coaching institutions will remain closed. Online distance learning shall continue to be permitted and shall be encouraged.

Hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services will also remain closed as earlier. However, hospitality services meant for Health or Government officials, healthcare workers, stranded persons including tourists and for quarantine facilities are allowed to remain open.

Restaurants shall be permitted to operate kitchens only for home delivery of food items.

All cinema halls, shopping malls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars and auditoriums, assembly halls and similar places will remain closed. Sports complexes and stadiums will be permitted to open, however, spectators will not be allowed.......Read More



Curfew in Himachal Pradesh to continue till May 31: COVID-19 Live Updates 

In Himachal Pradesh, curfew will continue till May 31. Chief Minister Jairam Thakur said curfew has been extended in the state in wake of growing coronavirus cases.

Two more people were found positive in the state taking COVID-19 tally to 80 in the state.



Atma Nirbhar Bharat scheme to provide free food grains to migrant labour kicks off

Under Atma Nirbhar Bharat package, Government of India has decided that food grains will be provided free of cost at the rate of 5 Kg per month for two months i.e. May and June 2020, to about 8 Crore migrant labour who are not covered under NFSA or State scheme PDS cards. The total estimated cost of about Rs. 3500 Crore for implementation of this scheme will be fully borne by Government of India. All India Allocation of food grains under this scheme is 8 Lakh Metric Tonnes (LMT).



Free food grains to 8 crore migrant labourers and their families to be provided under Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan 

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced a special economic and comprehensive package of Rs 20 lakh crore on 12 May 2020. As part of the Economic Measures (Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan) the Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman announced many short and long term measures for supporting the poor including migrant workers.This includes distribution of free food grains and pulses to 8 crore migrant labourers who arenot covered under National Food Security Act or State Scheme PDS Cards @ 5 kg per person per month free of cost for two months (May & June, 2020).



Nepal govt extends ongoing nationwide lockdown till June 2

Nepal government has extended ongoing nationwide lockdown till June 2. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting held in Kathmandu Sunday evening. Nepal has reported 295 COVID-19 cases till Sunday evening and deadly virus has claimed two lives so far.
