1. HRD Minister ‘Nishank’ releases alternative academic calendar for classes 9th and 10th in New Delhi: Highlights with Details
  • The Alternative academic calendar for secondary stage that is Classes IX and X was released by Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Union Minister of Human Resource Development (HRD) in New Delhi.
  • The Minister informed that alternative academic calendar for Classes XI and XII and subject areas will be released very soon. He added that this calendar will cater to the need of all children including Divyang children(Children with Special Need). The link for Audio books, Radio programmes, Video programme will be included.


2. Prime Minister Modi holds a detailed meeting to discuss financial sector, structural and welfare measures to spur growth in India
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting to discuss strategies to discuss interventions in the financial sector as well structural reforms to spur growth and welfare in the current context.
  • At a meeting with Finance Minister and officials, PM Modi discussed strategies and interventions to support MSMEs and farmers, enhance liquidity and strengthen credit flows.  PM Modi also discussed ways and means to ensure financial stability in the wake of COVID-19 and measures taken to enable businesses to recover quickly from the impacts.


3. PM Modi holds a meeting to discuss ways to boost agriculture sector
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting to deliberate on the issues and reforms required in Agriculture sector. Special emphasis was given on reforms in agriculture marketing, management of marketable surplus, access of farmers to institutional credit and freeing agriculture sector of various restrictions with appropriate backing of statute.
  • The focus was on making strategic interventions in the existing marketing eco-system and bringing appropriate reforms in the context of rapid agricultural development. Concessional credit flow to strengthen agriculture infrastructure, special Kisan Credit Card saturation drive for PM-Kisan beneficiaries and facilitating inter and intra-state trade of agriculture produce to ensure fairest return to farmer were some of the important areas covered.


4. Indian Coast Guard joins the nation to thank COVID-19 Warriors
  • Indian Coast Guard (ICG) stands in solidarity with efforts of the Government to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) proactively by undertaking additional community interaction programmes about the precautions to be adopted to educate mariners, especially fishermen community, ports and other agencies.
  • The ICG is also actively taking part in the ‘India Thanks COVID-19 Warriors’ initiative by illuminating ships and showering petals at hospitals treating Corona patients.


5. Clarification on MHA order regarding Movement of Persons and Vehicles in Orange Zones: Highlights with Details 
  • After a comprehensive review of the Lockdown measures to contain the COVID-19 situation in the country, Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued an Order yesterday, to further extend the Lockdown for a further period of two weeks w.e.f. May 4, 2020.
  • Taxis and cab aggregators are permitted, with one driver and two passengers only.
  • Inter-district movement of individuals and vehicles is allowed, only for permitted activities, with maximum two passengers, besides the driver, in four wheeler vehicles. 


6. All domestic & international flight services to remain suspended till May 17
  • All domestic and International flight services will remain suspended in the country till the midnight of 17th May.
  • Office of the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in an official release stated that the decision has been taken as a measure to contain the corona pandemic.


7. Ministry of Tourism  hosts 13th webinar titled  ‘Destination- Sariska Tiger reserve’ of "Dekho Apna Desh" series
  • The 13th session of Ministry of Tourism’s Dekho Apna Desh webinar on 1st May 2020, titled, ‘Destination- Sariska Tiger reserve’ was a presentation and virtual tour of wildlife adventure, safari experience for the traveller within the Sariska Tiger Reserve’ in Alwar district, Rajasthan.
  • The webinar was presented by Shri Gajendra Singh Panwar, Founder, Sariska Manor, Tehla and Shri DhirajTrivedi, CEO, Immense Marketing.


8. Himachal Pradesh govt launches online portal for stranded people
  • Himachal Pradesh government has launched an online portal (covid19epass.hp.gov.in) for people stranded outside and inside  the state and has no means of conveyance.
  • The data compiled under this portal will be used to devise a comprehensive plan to ensure interstate movement of stranded people.
