1. PM Modi Launches CHAMPIONS: Technology Platform to empower MSMEs: Highlights with Details
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the technology platform CHAMPIONS which stands for Creation and Harmonious Application of Modern Processes for Increasing the Output and National Strength.
  • As the name suggests,the portal is basically for making the smaller units big by solving their grievances, encouraging, supporting, helping and handholding.It is a real one-stop-shop solution of MSME Ministry.


2. R K Chaturvedi Assumes Charge as Secretary,Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals
  • R K Chaturvedi, a 1987-batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, has assumed charge as Secretary in the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers,Govt.of India. Before being appointed as Secretary, he was serving as an Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Culture. 
  • He has worked as Chairman of CBSE and as DG in the National Skill Development Authority-NSDA.


3. Pradip Kumar Tripathi Assumes Charge as Secretary in Ministry of Steel
  • Pradip Kumar Tripathi, IAS (J&K:1987) has taken over as Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India, here today. Prior to this, Shri Tripathihad been posted as Special Secretary and Establishment officer in Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).


4. Govt increases Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for 14 Kharif crops for marketing season 2020-21: Highlights with Details
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by the Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for all mandated Kharif crops for marketing season 2020-21.
  • The farmers, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for 14 Kharif crops will be increased upto 83 per cent, to ensure better returns for their farm produce.


5. PM Modi chairs first Cabinet Meeting of second year in office: Highlights with Details
  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi met on Monday, 1st June 2020. This was the first meeting of the Union Cabinet after the Central Government entered into its second year in office.
  • During the meeting, historic decisions were taken that will have a transformative impact on the lives of India’s hardworking farmers, MSME sector and those working as street vendors.


6. Rajya Sabha polls for 18 seats to be held on June 19
  • The Election Commission has announced the polls for pending 18 Rajya Sabha seats from seven states. The polling will be held on 19th of this month. The Commission had earlier deferred the elections on these seats scheduled for 26th of March due to COVID-19 situation.
  • The election will be conducted for filling four seats each in Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, three seats each in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, two seats in Jharkhand and one seat each in Manipur and Meghalaya.


7. Three more States included in One Nation One Card scheme: Key Highlights
  • The Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan announced the inclusion of three more states namely - Odisha, Sikkim and Mizoram in the scheme on ‘Integrated Management of Public Distribution System’ (IM-PDS). 
  • Under this system nation-wide portability of the benefits under NFSA through “One Nation One Ration Card” plan is implemented to enable the NFSA ration card holders to lift their entitled quota of subsidised foodgrains from any ePoS enabled FPS of their choice anywhere in the country, by using the existing/same ration card after Aadhaar authentication on ePoS device.


8. DRDO develops Ultra Swachh for disinfection of PPEs and other materials
  • Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed a disinfection unit named Ultra Swachh to disinfect a wide range of materials, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), electronics items, fabrics, etc.
  • Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Allied Sciences (INMAS), the Delhi based laboratory of DRDO has developed this product with industry partner M/s Gel Craft Healthcare Private Ltd, Ghaziabad.
